Perspective is everything. You need to think about one thing in different perspectives. Imagine walking into a neighborhood with people that are in situations, such as, being hungry or in poverty and you are wealthy so you do nothing. However, if you were living in their shoes, you would be begging for a meal or even a roof over your head. This is the reason why there needs to be more volunteers for community service to help others that do need the help, even if they don’t ask for it. In this article, “Should the United States Establish Mandatory Public Service for Young Adults?” by Kent Ansen (2013), the proposition that the author made is an interesting one and one that I believe in but I think that it should be suggested rather than mandatory.
Students already have to much to do. Community service will take time away from more important things. It is already hard to pass tests and get good
The topic of mandatory national service has been around for years now, and there will always be arguments on whether it should be enforced or not. Some may say that it takes away our freedom, but is it not what gives us freedom in the first place? The United States’ military, national service, as well as community service is based on volunteers. That is what makes this country great, but there are less volunteers as years go by. Crime increases, streets are not safe anymore, Americans are oblivious to what is happening around the world. There are so many opportunities to give back to the country, yet, not many care. Today’s generation is based on social trends, and self-gratification. There is also the fact that many young people do not know what to do with their life after high school, some continue to college or focus on work, others do not work nor study. Therefore, all young men and women should be required to give two years to national service because it can help solve problems as well as build the community back together.
High school administrations care about the well being of their students. They aim to guide the students in a way that will prepare them for the future ahead of each student. Thus administrations of high school have certain requirements that students must finish before graduating. There is one requirement that
Mandatory Community Service for Seniors When applying for a position at a job, managers always check to see how much experience you have in order to check if you are qualified. When filling out a college application there are always questions that ask to
Many schools require students to participate in community service, but I think this is a good idea. Many schools do not require students to volunteer in community service. I agree that students should have to volunteer to graduate. I think that students should be forced to volunteer for community service sometime in their high school career as it makes people work and shows them what work really is. It also gets people off there lazy tail.
Many countries require young people to serve two years of military service, and as we continue to have military conflicts across the world, some people have proposed that the united states adopt a similar type of policy of mandatory conscription. I believe that a two-year period of national service should be obligatory for all 18 year olds. It’ll help strengthen the character of youth, and will help increase the collective conscience of a nation and the restraint of leaders when considering military action. As we have 18 year olds go into the military, they should get the option in whatever kind of public service that suits his or her interest. Different genders across the world are frequently given different responsibilities. For example,
Mandatory Public service is a topic that has been debated for years. Joanne Levy-Prewitt, an independent college admission counselor, is in favor of making Public Services a requirement for graduated students. The relationship between service and education is significant and benefit from each other. Prewitt believes it would
With an increase in national service that would also increase in a need for civilian service. And with that rise to balance out ratio of civilian service to national service it should be every person upon graduation should be forced to choose one or the other, civilian service, or national service. So the question is not if you think civilian service should be required or not but the question of, upon graduation which would you rather choose? It’s a serious matter that I think should be addressed to the general public. Or instead of volunteering the government should bring the draft back into effect.
In different countries all over the world, it is mandatory for every young person to serve at least two years of service in the military. Many people believe we should have the same policy in the United States. People should have their own choice to serve in the military or not because mandatory military service is unfair and does not give each young person the right to express themselves in their daily life.
I agree almost completely with these changes. Many students have to spend a large amount of time working to save up for college and help their families. They don’t have nearly as much time to go out and do the extracurricular activities they would love to do. Also including public service that contributes to the common good is a wonderful idea. Students throughout the United States, including myself, would love to participate in events like science fairs, AP chemistry classes, and advanced after school study groups doing extra learning about science and math. However, I am from a very small town and many of these opportunities are not offered at my high school. Including community service that contributes to the common good wouldn’t help a
1. Attention Getter: 1. Mandatory conscription has left a bad taste in the mouths of Americans since the Vietnam War. In modern day society, it can be seen as slavery and Americans today have become accustomed to the voluntary army system we currently have. For some, the perceived loss of freedom also means
All in all, requiring students to do 75 hours of community service is a bad idea. Not only does it cut into personal time such as football practice to studying for a big test, it pushes students to do too much at one time. Also. not being able to have that free time after school prevents the student from being able to hold a good job since he/she would only be able to work around two to three hours a
Civil Service should be something that is mandatory for every 18 year old after high school. Something that should be mandatory for every American after high school is civil service because it teaches people to appreciate the work others do every day, it also teaches Americans to cooperate with other ethnicities and people of other religious beliefs, teaching them tolerance and teamwork, finally it can also teach them important or needed skills like leadership and endurance.
Making military service mandatory sound like it would be a good idea. This can give discipline, makes stronger citizens, but the reality is doing this takes away freedom and goes against the very foundations of what America is supposed to be. Mandatory military service should not be required for American citizens.
