Today Julie Frana, a staffing specialist/human resources recruiter from Manpower came in to talk to our health careers class about interviews. I learned a lot of different things from this presentation. One thing that was addressed in this presentation was different types of questions that are common for the interviewer to ask the person being interviewed. Some of these questions are more basic, and some are more specific for in the company and position you are interviewing for. I learned that when you tell the interviewer about yourself, that you should relate it to your work, and not just say random things about yourself. If they ask you to name some of your flaws, you should be honest with it and name some realistic ones, but then close
Upon the start of this assignment, I had a couple human service workers in mind to interview. I ultimately decide to interview Joy Sultan, a teacher/couselor for Chapter One Students at Hamilton Crossing Elementary school in Cartersville, Georgia. She works with troubled second grade students.
The Mount Carmel College of Nursing is one of the largest programs in central Ohio. The long history and reputation in the central Ohio area have placed the program in the forefront of providing excellent nurses. The
After assessing my interview, I found that there were a couple of things that I have improved on from my previous interviewing experiences. The first thing is a reduction in my filler words. I
Throughout this semester this class has allowed me the privilege to get to know people who I would have never talked to on a personal level while also having the chance to advance my interviewing skills while getting to know them. Not only did these interviews and experiences display my strengths such as being able to adapt to certain situations but even more importantly it helped show me my weaknesses. After one interview and the next, I had to learn what role I had to play as within each interview I had to adapt to find my specific role as it varied from one to the next. Having the opportunity to interview a handful of people from the beginning of this semester to now has also taught me that the person you are interviewing can have a tremendous effect on if the interview goes successfully or not for reasons that I will elaborate on further in my paper. Lastly, one of the greatest lessons I learned about while interviewing people would be how to properly prepare to make sure the interview itself go as smoothly as possible. All of these factors have helped me grow in becoming a better interviewer and have helped me grow as a person.
I want to thank you again for speaking with me! Talking with you helped me during my HireVue interview and helped me understand the company's culture. On another note, I am visiting Goldman's office later today with the Olin Finance Trek. If you have any free time, it would be great to speak with you.
For my Human Resources perspective I interviewed Judie Crudo the Human Resource Director for St. Anthony Foundation (St. Anthony’s). She has been with the organization in that capacity for 25 years. Being a native San Franciscan being offered a position with St. Anthony’s was a calling to her, “working for the best” is what she wanted to do and felt St. Anthony’s really offered that opportunity. Prior to working at St. Anthony’s, she was worked in Human Resources for Macy’s and a small startup company.
The purpose of the assignment was to interview another person and record it, then later analyze how well you used interview techniques. The interview was to last fifteen minutes and discuss why your interviewee had decided to choose a career in the health field.
What was one of the hardest things you’ve ever had to do in your position?

Misty Urban has been a friend of my parents for a very long time, so when I found out I needed to interview a healthcare professional I knew exactly who to go to. Misty is currently employed at ViaQuest Home Health and Hospice. Getting to where she is now was not easy, in fact she said “While I took pre-requisites for nursing, which took seven LONG years, because I took one class at a time until I had to go full-time for my RN.” While taking her pre-requisite courses she was also working at the Somerset Dialysis Center and worked there for almost 9 years. Before that Misty held jobs at Somerset Ambulance for 11 years, and also at the Somerset Hospital Emergency Department as a Registrar/technician. Misty told me that she was a candy-stripper at the Somerset Hospital when she was thirteen years old and that is what made her love the medical field. Then when she turned sixteen she took classes at the Somerset Vo-Tech to become an Emergency Medical Technician. “At 16, I was also a fireman too. I became the first female in the Somerset Fire Department and the first to obtain my firefighter 1 status” Misty said. When Misty received her nursing degree she went on a medical mission trip to Paraguay. When she returned home from her trip she start to work at The McGinley house, a home for intellectually disabled adults. Within the next could of weeks she will begin her training in hospice with ViaQuest. “I love the medical field, I 've been
Out of the three interview options I decided to do a selection interview. I chose to do a selection interview because it was the interview I was most comfortable doing and the type of interview I have been most exposed to in my life. My selection interview was a role play medical school admissions interview. I chose to do this type of interview because it was the most pertinent to my life because I will be doing these types of interviews next year (however, then I will be the interviewee). It was also fun for me to be the interviewer for this type of interview. I decided to do this interview with my friend Payge. I chose Payge because she also is a premedical student and I knew she could benefit from this interview as well. By practicing a
The person who I choose to interview was a close friend of mine named Ashely who is both a homecare aid and medical office assistant. She has been a homecare aid for around two years and just completed the program for becoming a medical office assistant.
The credential professional I interviewed was Heather Romero who is a Patient Care Coordinator at Lovelace Hospital. I am very interested in holding a position as a Patient Care Coordinator after graduation. After interviewing this individual I am eager to pursue this as a career path and feel it would be a good fit for me in the future. I am also thinking of changing my major to Nursing because the degree I am pursing right now might not be a good fit for a Patient Care Coordinator. I have prepared ten questions that I wanted to ask Heather Romero about the healthcare field I was interested in.
The professional I interview acquire a Ph.D. in Human Services/Public Health, with a concentration in: Healthcare Administration. In addition; to obtaining a RN license, as well as a University Professor; also owner of a Healthcare agency.
