People spend money every day on goods and services. Paper with the faces of influential people and numerous values can be found in pockets, parking lots, and many other places. While it may seem that we should keep Grant on the fifty dollar bill it is actually true that Reagan should be the honored image on the fifty dollar bill.

Vibhav Kollu Honors English III December 21, 2010 The New Deal’s Lasting Effect on Society “I pledge you, I pledge myself, to a new deal for the American people,” President Franklin Delano Roosevelt said after winning his party’s nomination in 1932 ("A New Deal for Americans"). The 1930s was a time of great economic depression; in response the New Deal was FDR’s plan for America’s recovery. By 1933, when FDR took office, one in four Americans was unemployed. Furthermore, there was widespread hunger, malnutrition, overcrowding, and poor health. The New Deal was made to combat these tragic conditions and it did so through the means of welfare and government intervention. Indeed, the New Deal was a radical change to the way America had

Being in a sorority is very rewarding yet can be very time consuming. Each member that is part of a sorority has a huge role to play even if you do not hold a position within the organization. Alpha Sigma Alpha is a national sorority who is heavily involved with community service and their three national philanthropies, St. June Smith, Special Olympics, and Girls on the Run, as well as local philanthropy year after year. As a hard-working, committed individual, I believe that being a member of National Honors Society will significantly benefit my personal character, academic achievements, and social life. After conducting some research on National Honors Society, I have come to learn that NHS needs students that exemplify the qualities of character, service, scholarship, and leadership to be qualified for membership. By being qualified for this outstanding opportunity, I believe that I can attain leadership skills, and confidence which can be beneficial in the years to come.
I came into Norwalk Community College looking for a fresh start. I previously attended a 4 year university that became too much for me; attending school full-time, working 30 hours per week while trying to enjoy the college experience. At the cost of an “experience” I ended up failing most of my classes, putting my health at risk drowned by the tremendous amount of stress and just wanted to completely give up. Looking for a fresh start I decided to leave my University, and attend Norwalk Community College. Though this decision created self-doubt in the beginning, it soon came to my realization that it was the best decision I ever made. Immersed in an environment full of positive people, I was able to put my pieces back together.
National Honors society would be an amazing opportunity for me. I believe I would be a perfect fit

Caity Farrell, a student at Western Harnett High School in Sanford North Carolina went to her guidance counselor, after finding out she was pregnant at the age of seventeen, about her college options. She had always dreamed of becoming a doctor and took honors and AP classes to make sure she could achieve that dream. Her counselor responded with telling her that she might as well go to community college because she already ruined her life. The schools are making student grades and attendance more important than their sanity and health. One in five students have a severe mental disorder and seventeen percent of students between grades nine and twelve have had suicidal thoughts. Nine percent of those students will attempt to take their lives.
In the United States, we have many charities dedicated to improving the health of infants and babies, but none of them are as dedicated to their research as the March of Dimes. The March of Dimes is a health and care charity that has the focus of improving health in children and babies by trying to infant mortality, premature birth, and birth defects. This charity began in 1938 by our thirty-second president Franklin D. Roosevelt under the original name it had known as the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis to try and find a cure for the disease otherwise known as polio, though its’ longer name is poliomyelitis (Rose, 2010).
