Despite how certain individuals might feel about the changes that are set to take place, marijuana is not going anywhere. Also identified as pot, weed, or cannabis, marijuana plays a substantial part in California’s culture and business revenue. The usage of weed has been handed a ruthless reputation since the great depression. In those times, marijuana usage came to be primarily linked as the cause of violence, crime and all sorts of deviant behaviors, which led to the laws on marijuana. Although now, people are starting to shift their outlook drastically due to misleading assumptions towards marijuana usage. There are numerous people with illnesses that smoke marijuana due to its benefits of relieving pain. At one point in time, marijuana
Since 1996, the state of California, and by default, the city of Desert Hot Springs, have allowed the use of medical marijuana. Under proposition 215, any individual with a prescription could legally possess and use cannabis. And this was the case until recently, when a chain of events led to the legalization of consumption for non-medical reasons in California. Proposition 64 legalizes the private use of marijuana as of January 1st, 2018. However, this decision appears to have been made prematurely as the effects of such an abrupt decision are beginning to manifest themselves. Aside from the palpable consequences of marijuana consumption, including sluggishness and impaired judgement, there are far more serious unintended consequences impacting
Thesis: There is a significant amount of attention in today’s world on weather or not to legalize marijuana. The prohibition of marijuana is holding up the improvement of social and economic developments.
I. Attention Statement: Legalizing marijuana in Texas has been a long-standing debate since 2005. Recently, just last June, a major breakthrough has been made on this highly contentious issue. The legislature passed the bill into law on the legal use of marijuana for medicinal purposes. However, progress has yet to be made on legalizing marijuana for recreational purposes, which accounts for most of the criminal activities in our state.
A. We need to petition to pass legislature that legalizes marijuana for patients that need it.
Humans have been using medicine to salve our wounds, physical and mental, since near the beginning of our species. It is something we used throughout the ages though we haven’t always used the same means achieve it. We’ve used “magic” elixirs, prayer, mercury, lobotomies, and other things that just weren’t effective methods of healing anyone. Today, we have vaccines, pills, antibiotics, and other medicine that has kept us going thus far in life. The medicine I want to inform you about today is Marijuana. Marijuana holds many medical uses.
Every time you hear the words smoking marijuana what is the first thing that comes to your head? Maybe your first thought is that’s gross or what productive person does that? A lot of people have the notion that marijuana is just for the main purpose to make people “high” (a feeling of high attitudes and euphoria) that is why it is still considered an illegal drug in some states. Today I want to inform you that this natural drug is doing miracles for people with many serious health diseases. There are over 420 diseases that medical marijuana has improved these patients live for the better and many people have come to agree that this natural plant is actually a secret drug to happiness.
Thesis statement: I encourage you to enter a marijuana dispensary and inform yourself of how marijuana can be a better choice for pain relief than
I must tell you something, and I know it will upset you, I tried marijuana last night. The words from my friend’s mouth slapped me across the face, I can almost feel the sting now as I recall the experience to you. As her words sunk in I started to wonder if our friendship could survive such a betrayal of trust. Forgive or not, this is the dilemma I found myself in as I listened to my best friend confess that she did something we both promised each other we would never do.
There are many people on the fence about marijuana and the benefits it has as a pain reliever. I would like to address this as an advocate for marijuana.
You get a phone call saying that your mom just died. You don’t even have to ask what caused her death, you already know the answer. Your mom has been fighting pneumonia and respiratory infections. The reason why she got these lung diseases was because she was smoking marijuana. Who would have expected that this drug would lead to death. Many people are becoming addicted to marijuana, leading them to not be successful in life. People want to have their own rights, but if everyone decided to do what they wanted, our nation wouldn’t be where it is today. This is why legalizing this drug would lead to more addicts in our country, uneducated people, and deaths.
I have personally experience in using marijuana before. I was absolutely freaked out the first time I tried but some of my friends were just acting normal.
I don't use any illegal drugs, but I am opposed to the fact that marijuana is illegal. The main reason for that is that smoking marijuana is no more dangerous to the user than smoking cigarettes and no more dangerous to society than alcohol consumption. Yes, there are necessary limits to individual freedoms. Yes, marijuana should be regulated by the government and restricted from consumption by children. Yes, marijuana may be somewhat harmful to the user. But there is no logical justification for criminalizing marijuana while the use of other drugs with virtually identical risks is entirely permissible.
Marijuana is also known as weed, pot, or cannabis. Whichever way you pronounce it most people would turn their heads with the sign of disappointment or judgement. The same ones who get sloppy drunk and wake up somewhere they don’t even remember, while marijuana doesn’t cause those side effects and you wake just fine. Throughout history we were told that Marijuana is bad for you and you should not take it, and just like drinking it’s bad for you and should not drink. Wouldn’t that mean liquor and beer should be illegal just like Marijuana?
How many of you guys have tried your hand at growing your own marijuana (legally, of course)? How many of you have spent several hours designing a grow room, purchasing lights, fertilizers, pots, growing mediums, seeds? Have you ever tried to sort through the wealth of marijuana growing information on the internet? I must admit that one resource we are seriously lacking at Weed Smoker’s Guide is information about growing marijuana quickly and correctly.
It is estimated that 36.5 million adults smoke in the United States of America (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention B). A cigarette contains 7,000 chemicals and 70 of those can cause cancer (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention B). When someone decides to smoke a cigarette, they are not only choosing to allow those toxins into their body but are imposing all those same toxins on anyone around them. Secondhand smoke is the combination of smoke from the burning end of a cigarette and the smoke breathed out by smokers and is considered more dangerous then smoking the cigarette (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention B). Every year 480,000 people in the United States of America die because of cigarette smoking, which is the leading cause of preventable disease and death. Why has this deadly habit become such a casual part of the American life? This habit is not only harmful to the person smoking, but is hurting everyone around them. It may be their decision to smoke and cause damage to their own bodies but when they decide to smoke in public they are infringing on the rights of everyone around them right to protect their health. Smoking should be made illegal because it is not only harmful to the smokers but also causes harm to fetuses in utero, developing children and any other adults who may breathe that smoke in.
