“If I’m a star, then the people made me a star.” ~Marilyn Monroe. Marilyn Monroe was a very unique and well-known person to a lot of people. She has a generous heart and strong independence. “You know, most people don’t really know me.” ~Marilyn Monroe. This quote is true for many people. We think we know who she is, but once you start asking questions you find things you never thought would be true. Never judge a book by it’s cover, “My dinners at home are startlingly simple. Every night, I stop at the market near my hotel and pick up some steak, lamb chops or some liver, which I boil in the electric oven in my room. I usually eat four or five carrots with my meat, and that is all. I must be part rabbit; I never get tired of carrots.” …show more content…

So over time people saw Monroe and how beautiful she looked and directors of movies wanted her in their movies. So in 1950 she had a role in “The Asphalt Jungle”; her part was small but also important. This movie was Marilyn’s first acting job and the start to her career. Over an eight year period of acting, Marilyn participated in 24 different films. Her whole career was 16 years and she made 29 films. Marilyn really liked her job and was very kind and appreciative of her fans. Just take the scene from “ Seven Year Itch” with the “skirt blowing” scene. Several hundred photographers and 2,000 fans went to Trans-Lux Theater, New York City to watch and record Monroe posing for two hours for her fans to see. Marilyn Monroe did an abundance of things for others in need. She performed at the Hollywood Bowl for a fundraising event to help underprivileged children at St. Jude hospital. She worked with the World Adoption International Fund to help more than 50,000 abandoned kids get adopted. The one thing that is remarkable is perfectly said by Andrew Mersmann “This one is well known: Marilyn visited an orphanage in Mexico and wrote a check for $1000 while the press was there–and after they left she tore it up and wrote a new one for $10,000.” (Mersmann). These are just a few of the amazing things Marilyn did over her lifetime and she used her talent too help others too. There is one more very important question that really shows who Marilyn Monroe
