Marty Martian was sent to Earth to find life, and he succeeded in finding a car. The car is living because it uses energy, and it feeds on a liquid substance. Marty said that , “they appeared to have a great deal of energy, some of them moved faster than 60 kilometers per hour”. Every living thing has energy, and so does this car. If the car was not living then it would not have the energy to move. Marty also stated that he, “observed that they would stop to feed on a liquid substance”. All living things need a stimuli to live, which is why a car needs gas. If the car was not living, then it would not need gas to drive.

This all happened during Watney and his crews attempt to leave Mars due to increasingly powerful windstorms. Watney somehow survived being hit by the debris and now that his crew has left him he is stranded on Mars on his own. Watney must find a way to survive and make communication with NASA. The Martian Novel should end with Watney being rescued by the NASA team. As he gets on the Hermes, he decides to bring his potatoes back to Earth to observe. The astronaut team was thrilled to have Watney back and they all celebrated the successful mission. As the celebration continues Commander Lewis notices that the Hermes is gradually declining in altitude towards Pluto. She then quickly yells for the others to come look at what was going on. Despite the efforts to prevent crashing, the mission to bring Watney back was unsuccessful. The entire team was stranded on Pluto and terrified of what was to come. The character Mark Watney in the book, “The Martian”, had to deal with a food shortage. In the story, Watney had to survive 549 days on Mars and had to produce around 149 days worth of food. Watney had to create an environment to plant potatoes. These plants would need water, heat, and nutrients. He obtained the amount of water with the amount he could get from the water reclaimed and separating hydrazine. Watney used an iridium catalyst and he would put a drop of hydrazine (rocket fuel) to get hydrogen and nitrogen gas. The atmospheric regulator would remove the nitrogen gas, but the hydrogen wouldn’t be removed. Then, Watney removed most of the oxygen from the hab and began the chemical reaction of the hydrogen and the oxygen becoming water.

That is what happened to Mark Watney in The Martian. He is trapped on Mars and tries to the best of his ability to survive. He learns to grow food, partly because he is a botanist, and travels over 3000 miles to the next Ares mission site. Ares is the name of the missions to Mars. Where he will fly to orbit and meet his crewmates who flew back to rescue him. The same storyline is followed in the movie with some of the most important parts of the book still included.      The Martian Chronicles, by Ray Bradbury, is a science-fiction book and was written in 1946. This major work by Bradbury is a collection of short stories relating to Mars or Martians. Bradbury had a clear vision of the Mars in which these stories are set. His vision was one of a fantasy world from the Martians point of view. In this work, the humans from Earth are the aliens from outer space. Bradbury has won many awards including the O. Henry Memorial Award, the Benjamin Franklin Award, the Aviation-Space Writers Association Award, the World Fantasy Award for lifetime achievement, and the Grand Master Award from the Science Fiction Writers of America. Watney has to work through challenges such as weather and food consumption, he looks at the beauty of Mars the the positives of being the first human to live on Mars.

Moses is dependant when he brings his brother Aaron to speak, when he is doubtful in speaking to the pharaoh, and when he does not believe that he can keep the Hebrews safe. When Moses is ordered by God, he denies that he should go and speak to the Pharaoh and says, “I am slow of speech and of tongue” (112). He eventually brings his brother Aaron to speak for him to the Pharaoh since he claims that he is slow. In the movie The Martian, Mark is on a mission to Mars and a dust storm threatens him and his crew. Mark is hit by flying debris and is lost within the storm, leaving his crew to believe that there is no way he is alive. The commander tells the crew to return to their vessel, leaving Mark behind.

The novel, The Martian, by Andy Weir tells the story of a man named Mark Watney. His crew and he are part of the Ares 3 mission set due to Mars. When the Ares 3 crew arrives on Mars they settle into the Hab, a dome-like structure. On Sol 6 of the Ares mission, a sandstorm approaches the crew. When the crew is forced to evacuate the surface of Mars, Watney gets impaled by a satellite antenna and is presumed dead by his crew. Left behind with little to no chance of survival, he will have to live in the Hab until he can get rescued. Mark Watney’s Renaissance man skills, resourcefulness, and self-deprecating sense of humor affords him a chance of survival. His ability to adapt to his situation, put his skills to use, and apply his intelligence allows him to be able to understand complex things which help him survive on Mars until rescue comes.
