This meeting took place on February 14, 2018 at 7:00 pm at the Martin County Governmental Center, Commissioners' Boardroom at 305 East Main Street, Williamston, North Carolina. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Butch Lilley, the pledge of allegiance was led by commissioner Joe Ayers and the invocation was provided by commissioner Ronnie Smith. The total amount that was either billed in error or over assessed totaled $1,562.13 which was to be refunded. The citizens or businesses that had a refund asked that it be applied to any current taxes that are due. Next the Bertie-Martin Regional Jail Commission recommended that the Board of Commissioners reappoint Mr. William Stalls to the Bertie-Martin Regional Jail board for another two years. The decision will be announced during the next regular meeting. Then the local Fire Chiefs of the various fire departments recommended that the Board of Commissioners appoint/reappoint (7 total) to the Fireman's Relief Funds for another two years. This decision will also be announced during the next regular meeting. After a short break, the Board of Commissioners welcomed two new employees to the Martin County workforce/family. One employee was for the expanded Foods & Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) and the other one a Water System Technician for the Water District. Social Services Meeting: On 11/21/2016, Ms. Medina and her children met with her assigned Case Manager for the family ILP Document Review. Ms. Medina is expected to meet with assigned Case Manage bi-weekly. Ms. Medina’s next ILP Document Review is on 12/05/2016. Case Manager encouraged Ms. Medina to continue attending meetings. Ms. Medina stated that she was a sad and upset, due to that her doctor informed her that she is not going to be able to work as a Home Health Aid due to a back injury. Ms. Medina stated that her doctor recommended that she would benefit from physical therapy and that she should avoid to lift anything heavy until further notice.

On November 9th 2015, a town hall meeting took place in my political science class. This meeting was a chance for students of the school to bring up concerns, or issues regarding there education. For their voice to be heard directly to the faculty that runs the school, the students could finally have a chance to get a valid answer. There was questions about safety, mathematics, community college education, and typical student issues.
Social Services Meeting: On 03/01/2017, Ms. Hawkins and her daughter Emoni met with her assigned Case Manager for the family ILP Document Review. Ms. Hawkins’ next ILP Document Review appointment is on 03/14/2017. Ms. Hawkins is in-compliance with the terms of her ILP. Ms. Hawkins was reminded that she is expected to attend all scheduled meetings with assigned Case Manager and failed to do it would considered non-compliance and warning will be issued. Ms. Hawkins stated that she is aware. Case Manager asked Ms. Hawkins if there are any issues or concerns that she will like to discuss, Ms. Hawkins stated no.

I chose to attend a city council meeting for this assignment and was very surprised at what I witnessed. The city council served an important purpose and the meeting actually accomplished many important goals. Among the interesting things that I saw at the council meeting were the people who attended, the people who presented, the people who sat on the council, and the subjects that were being voted upon in the meeting.
