Suzuki did not demonstrate very well the use of the mode logos, logical argument, throughout her speech. Aristotle describes logos as the techniques that have the power to persuade. The speaker used a diagram of the brain to show where specific areas on the brain are located so that the audience could understand the terms better. She also explained that exercising about three or four times a week for at least half an hour will help get the heart rate up especially if aerobic exercise is included. Although she used these nonverbal and verbal tools, she lacked conclusive evidence to support her claim. The structure of Suzuki’s speech was organized very well and helped the audience focus on her speech. Although, explaining a scientific discovery to an audience with no background limits the speaker on how to express their message, Suzuki was able to overcome this with verbal and non-verbal cues. The speaker’s verbal style included the use of simple and direct sentences which made it very easy for audience to follow and understand the logicality of the message. Also, it made it less complicated for the audience to analyze. Her exercise demonstration was suitable for the type of audience because she clearly expressed her argument by connecting her facts to the audience’s reality instead connecting it to her’s. Therefore, her demonstration was a nonverbal cue that increased the accuracy and quality of the message. It also made it less complicated for the audience to analyze and criticize her argument. Another example of verbal and nonverbal cue is repeating “exercise is the most transformative thing” with a certain tone. The use of repetition reinforced her message especially because she regulated the rate at which she was speaking for the audience to follow along. Overall, the Suzuki’s style of speech, verbal and nonverbal cues helped the audience understand her reseasoning
