Mary Kaldor, a modern war theorist, is convinced that the 1980s and 1990s wars have undertaken a different dimension from what they used to be like. In particular, these Warfare’s have shown some advanced characteristics, which have emerged through the forces of globalization processes. Indeed, the "New Warfares" according to Kaldor, are worldwide systems which manifest a modern age phenomenon of the 21st century. In that, they have gradually changed the global organization, its political frameworks and its parameters. Indeed, these structures have consequently interfered and affected various political affairs internationally. It is through the electronic devices such as television, radio, newspapers and the Internet, etc., which have been …show more content…
The outcome of these wide coverage has led to the emergence of the Wars, that are unique and which have with time sprouted up all over the globe. The global spread of these Civil Wars, have distinguishing peculiarities in comparison to the “Old Clausewitzean Wars.”In other words, in the old wars, various states were involved in the battles. This was a determined effort, competition, an argument or a struggle between nations, with the intention of winning power or control while in new wars, group within the state and other non-state actors are involved in the struggle and control of resources, in contrast to the new wars, whereby "their" advocators, normally influence other people´s decisions, using certain traits, such as people´s characteristics, feelings, beliefs or even religion etc. Their major intention is to draw distiction markers, thus creating division and exclusion of the community members from others. The people are unreasonably disliked through the ethcial prejudices, based on either group customs, physical features, languages race or even religion, hence, affecting the political, social and economic affairs of a specific country or a
War has been a inseparable part of the human experience. Well for most of our specie’s existence at least. It was always a way to secure your interests when diplomacy hits a brick wall. However throughout the 20th century all that began to change. In this essay I will aim to explain how the perspective of war changed for the individual, the state and globally in the 20th century through reasons such as the democratization, globalization and the rise of more advanced weapons. This research question links with the topic “changing communities” as war affects the smallest community which in my option is the family to the largest which is the global community. She is remembered best for her contribution to the struggle for the rights of women of African descent. Mary Terrell was born in Memphis, Tennessee at the close of the Civil War. Her parents, former slaves who later became millionaires, tried to shelter her from the harsh reality of racism. However, as her awareness of the problem developed, she became an ardent supporter of civil rights. Her life was one of privilege but the wealth of her family did not prevent her from experiencing segregation and the humiliation of Jim Crow laws. While traveling on a train her family was

Anne Bradstreet writes, “Let Greeks be Greeks and women what they are” (209). This quote illustrates that Bradstreet believes women should be on equal footing as men. In other words, women should be able to write and have an education like men. Can this query be compared to the influence for Americas Culture today? Yes, it can, as many writers have influenced American culture. Bradstreet throughout The Prologue illustrates that she hopes that women could see the day to have the same freedom as men, such as having the right to write and having an education. She is not alone. Mary Rowlandson in “A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson”, tells her story about the time she was captured by Indians. This narrative builds upon the idea that she influences the future for women. She becomes a role model that has courage and the ability to stand on her own. Together with their writing, both Bradstreet and Rowlandson illustrate their influence to America’s future for women.
War is not a common phenomenon anymore after the post cold war era. According a research conducted on active armed conflict across the world at the Uppsala University in Sweden, of all the 101 active armed conflicted between the late 80s and mid 90s, only six were actually between two different states (Solenberg &Wallensteen, 1997). These statistics clearly indicates that the conflict in today's world is more internal and ethnic based.

Living in America during the 18th and 19th century with different colored skin, different religious and cultural views, and being a different gender has proven to be a difficult task being the minority and having to share the country with all white men. Native Americans, African Americans, and Women all had their struggles, their ups and downs, their joy of overcoming and their sadness, but in the end they fought hard for equality and for better treatment. In order to succeed, they must carry on a difficult path full of bumps and hostility before finding better days.
With the great diversity in the world disagreements over race and religion are ubiquitous. Consequently, opinions over these subjects are the biggest contributors to war and bloodshed. Unfortunately, our modern society has been marred with war and strife over its eventful lifespan. A civil disagreement, when accompanied by mass offenses, often ends with deadly war. Throughout history, many nations have been unable to solve their personal grievances with one another in a diplomatic manner. In many instances are solves through protest, boycotts and other contentious means. However, in some instances, society elects the worst possible alternative, which is often war. In retrospect, wars have been fought for many worthwhile causes, even by today's standards. Wars have been fought over liberty, injustice, the potential threat to national security and more. However, no war is more damaging than those that are civil. Brother against brother, father against father, neighbor against neighbor. These are often the most bitter of wars simply because they are so personal and contentious. As is the case with the American Civil War of 1861-1865, the varying degrees of hatred and disagreement resulting in massive deaths. Due primarily to the civil nature of the war, many lives were lost in an unnecessary and often brutal manner.
Throughout history, neighbor has been fighting neighbor over land. Some of these wars have gone down in history as the most violent or largest of all wars. The study of war must include all aspects of the struggle, including historical, financial, and political ramifications. Insight into the strategy used by military troops, the rational of the military leaders, how the economy was affected, provide an understanding of society during that time. Wars are studied for years after they cease. Studying the causes, results, the economics, the destruction and reconstruction, and other particulars of war offers insight and, hopefully, the wisdom to prevent future ones.

War causes several problems and requires a large amount of a government’s efforts. Furthermore, war causes controversy causes controversy within a state or a country, and lasting rivalries. Thus, governments resorted to propoganda. This promoted nationalism, and furhtered hatred for their “enemies”. The constant and continued conflict the masses saw during this time period, and the labor required by the masses to support their military eventually made it tough for a government to get them to embrace a logic of war. However, “once mobilized, how do you de-escalate?”
Of all the selections we have read so far Mary Rowlandson is the one that I have enjoyed the most. Her writing approach was straight forward and lacked much of the exaggeration of the other pieces we have read. Though I doubt thing happened just as she relays them I am sure that her account is close to the truth. Her writing is important for several reason but mainly because she is an early American woman writer. There is so little recorded from this era that shows a woman’s perspective. Her portrayal of a strong woman becomes a great example of the grit and determination that woman of this time needed to possess.
