In 1937, Meridian Community College (MCC) was founded as a part of Meridian High School in the local school system. In 1965, the College also formerly known as Meridian Junior College moved from its original location to its present location. In 1970, the College merged with the historically T.J. Harris Junior College according to a federal court order to the Meridian Municipal Separate School System. There were more than 400 students and faculty joined the MJC campus. In 1980, Meridian Junior College established its own district and Board of Trustees. I believe If accepted into Appalachian State University I would exude in both academically and both socially. Appalachian provides many appealing aspects to me, prominently their historical academic programs. Now as a 1st Generation, child of Mexican immigrants I was expected to attend a college in the city notorious for large classes and a standard picturebook college. Northwest Missouri State University is a great place for everybody to learn. Over the course of my education experience, I’ve been to four higher educational institutions. However, the one I want to highlight is Roberts Wesleyan College (RWC).

Grove City College is a private college in Grove City, Pennsylvania. The college would not complete Title IX compliance papers because the school did not receive any federal financial support directly and felt that it was not bound by Title IX. Even though the college itself didn’t receive federal money, some of the students who attended the college did. The Basic Educational Opportunity Grants (BEOGs), now called the Pell Grant, was a program funded with federal money to serve aspiring student with the financial aid they need to attend college. From the Department of Education’s view point, the school was receiving federal money, indirectly, in the form of student tuition that was being paid with federal money through the BEOGs. If Gove City College didn’t comply with Title IX, the Department of Education threatened to “initiate administrative proceedings to declare the college as well as the students ineligible for federal funding, including BEOGs” (Anderson & Osborne, 2008).

There are many options when it comes to choosing a college after high school, Yes it can be hard and confusing, but if we are well informed, it could be a piece of cake! I have visited and gathered information about Hamline university and century college this year.

I think it is hard to tell whether Carroll University, as an institution, encourages a successful learning environment. I am certain that this is an institutional goal for Carroll. However, when we look at college level education, I get the sense that professors tend to have a little more freedom (and resources available) when it comes to teaching. This may make it easier for a professor to adjust a class/classroom as described in this week’s reading (Hannah) in order to meet the needs of his/her students. This, in my mind, makes a successful learning environment much more dependent on the instructor rather than the institution itself (although the institution can certainly have an effect on the learning environment).
