Abraham Maslow was an American philosopher who was born in the early 1990 's in Brooklyn, New York. He was one of the leading theorists that promoted humanistic psychology during his era. Maslow sought to understand what motivates and inspires individuals. He theorized that individuals possess and hold a group of motivation and incentive systems not related to plunder or insensible desires. Maslow declared that people are motivated and provoked to attain certain needs. When one need is fulfilled a person seeks to fulfill the next one, and so on. The earliest version of Maslow 's hierarchy of needs includes five motivational needs, often viewed as hierarchical levels inside a pyramid. The five stage representation can be separated into basic needs and growth needs. The deficiency or basic needs are said to motivate and stimulate individuals when they are unmet and not fully attained. Also, the desire to fulfill and accomplish such wants and needs will become stronger the longer the duration they are denied. Once these needs have been relatively satisfied, an individual may be capable of reaching the highest level of the pyramid called self-actualization. Maslow though that self actualization is a state that exists when an individual is acting in harmony with his or her full capabilities. Psychologist Abraham Maslow created Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, a list of necessary needs in order to live with healthy mental. The levels are physiological, safety, love, esteem, and self-actualization. Physiological deals with survival needs which include food, shelter, and water. Safety is the need to be secure from danger, a shelter or safe environment. Love is the is need for affection and belongingness, friends and family. Esteem is the personal worth, success and achievements. Self-actualization is actualizing one’s potential and what you are capable of. According to Maslow, the most important level is physiological and is needed for survival.
According to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory, all humans have different levels of needs that we need to fulfill in order to survive. Throughout life, one’s personality is a very important aspect of that individual’s wellbeing. Such characteristics are not only used by others in attempts to understand their peers, but also determine one’s own satisfaction and view of themselves. People are always attempting to change who they are for the better, in efforts to live a more satisfying and self-fulfilling life through achieving higher personal needs. With that said, when studying the psychological basis behind one’s development and change in personality, one specific theory and stance seems to explain this phenomenon of bettering one’s self; that of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs.
Abraham Maslow proposed Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs in 1943. Within this theory he stated that people must achieve certain needs and that some of those needs take priority over others. He also went on to state that you must satisfy your lower level needs before you can meet higher-level growth needs. There are five stages to Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs starting from physiological needs, safety, love/belonging, esteem and finally, self-actualization. Health is considered a safety need, which is the second stage of needs that must be met after the physiological needs (Werby, 2013). Minecraft games mimic the regular life in a real world which is clearly and accurately capsulated by Abraham Maslow in his “Hierarchy of Needs.” As in real life situations, one needs resources to satisfy one’s physiological needs like food and shelter. Unfortunately, acquiring the necessary resources to survive the day’s challenges is not easy. The same case is true in minecraft games.
Abraham Maslow created the hierarchy of needs by studying and observing monkeys. He transitioned his ideas to human behavior and created one’s deficit needs. In Hemingway’s The Old Man and The Sea, the character Santiago has experienced the loss of his wife and the glory of being a fisherman. The old man is different from the rest of the fisherman, who are motivated by money and not to the craft of fishing. He is unconventional in society and isn’t affected by his financial needs. Although Santiago is mocked by society, his eyes still look young and undefeated. His imagination and aspiration of becoming the best fisherman overpower the hardships he has to face with society and nature. Through it all,
I believe this video is included in our patient care class to show us that there are many different kinds of disabilities a patient can suffer, all the while keeping a positive attitude. Something that stuck out the most in each person’s story was their want of independence. They want to live a normal life and be treated like any normal person. Being able to accomplish simple goals without the help of others is apart of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. I think that this is hard for some health care workers to understand. At the end of the day the job is to help people who can’t help themselves. The reality is that even though most disabled people cannot do certain things on their own, they still want to try. It will be our job to make sure that
Education class has taught me many important lessons such as the different learning styles, the importance of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, and that no students are “lazy and dumb.” The three basic learning styles are kinesthetic, auditory, and visual. As an art teacher I plan on covering all learning styles by showing students examples of the project, having written instructions on the board, and reading the instructions out loud so that the children are able to fully understand what they are supposed to do. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is important to know because it explains the basic needs a person needs in their life. As an art teacher I will keep non messy snacks in the room so that students can take a snack break if they are hungry. I will also make sure that every student feels safe and like they belong in the class. Lastly I will make sure that no students feel as though they are thought of as being lazy or dumb in my class. By giving each student 3 forms of instructions, desks arranged to form groups, and the feeling of safety, any student should feel comfortable enough in the class to ask anyone in the room what they are supposed to be doing.

This article’s objective is to explain Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory in his 1943 paper A Theory of Human Motivation. Maslow’s theory was fully expressed in his 1954 book Motivation and Personality. This article informs the reader about what makes up the established hierarchy pyramid and it explains what needs it consist of such as physiological, safety, love/belonging, esteem, and self-actualization needs. This article also expands on this theory by demonstrating the many criticisms it has faced since it was proposed. Another topic discussed was Maslow’s theory connection to business as well as international business and marketing.
In Maslow’s hierarchy of needs there are 5 stages of needs. For example: 1st, Biological and Physiological needs such as: food, air, sleep. Basically it is something we cannot live without. 2nd, Safety needs; like to feel yourself safe, 3rd, Social needs; for instance friendship, family, love. 4th, Esteem needs; for example, status, achievement, independence. 5th, Self-Actualization needs e.g. seeking personal growth, self-fulfillment. Maslow believed that whenever person achieves his/her goals, or needs they always move on to the next one. Maslow believed that everybody can and want to move up to the 5th stage of hierarchy, in order to get there you have to fulfill all the stages of the Maslow’s hierarchy of needs starting from the 1st to the 5th. Maslow’s study showed that only 1 in 100 can fully fulfill the all 5 stages of the hierarchy of needs.
