When people form big groups they act in certain ways, which are different from how they would act if they where alone. I think the mass hysteria theory does a good job of explaining collective behavior. It says that people in crowds lose the ability to think and act rationally. It goes further in saying that the crowd shares an emotional bond, similar to group think theory. One example of this is the Berkeley riots, where protesters forced the cancelation of the guest speaker Milo Yiannopoulos. About 150 protesters lit fires, threw Molotov cocktails, and caused thousands in damages. This example points out the intensity of behavior, homogeneity of mood and action, and irrational behavior. Most likely those people would not do something like
Mob mentality and herd behavior have a negative behavior on people because of their individuality and rational thinking. People are influenced by others behaviors in a group. They can have negative and positive acts on people having individual thinking and it changes people's rational thinking. In the teleplay “The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street” written by Rod Serling, the article “When Good people Do Bad Things” written by Ann Trafton, and the article “Why Do People Follow The Crowd” reported by ABC news, when someone does not want to share their own idea they do not feel like sharing as a groups. People can also act differently in a group because they do not want to be embarrassed with others.

One reason as to why mob hysteria could create a form of power to the wrong person is that this creates a form of fear in the rest of the people. As a result, those people look to someone to lead them out of the bad situation, and that person is not always the best one for the job. Humans have not

Crowds can make people feel like they are doing something right just because they are not alone. “Isolated individuals seldom heckle or riot.
“ An old dream with shiny new veneer. Its fascinating, you know, how an obsolete madness is sometimes adopted and stylized in the attempt to ghoulishly preserve it. In the real world, those who want to protest and make a difference in society form groups so that their point will be more publicized, and therefore, taken seriously. When King states that “groups tend to be more immoral than individuals,” it relates to violent riots that have currently come to issue in today’s society. Speaking out against society can be immoral. Riots are known to consist of destruction of property, violence, and other profanity. However, it is rare to see an individual take part in these behaviors, without a group supporting them. For example, violent-anti Trump riots have broken out across the U.S. The question is, how many of these rioters would act

During the late 1940’s and the 1950’s, a huge wave of hysteria swept through the United States.
