I have been a student in the Thomas County School System ever since I started pre-school. During my time here, I have loved every minute of it, learning and having great experiences with friends and teachers here. Over the last four years of my high school experience, I have noticed that there have been more threats of bombings and shootings around the nation. Even though we do have a safe school and take precautions, there is still room for error. I am proposing that we make school a safer place for kids to learn by installing bulletproof glass as well as door-stoppers in each class.

I'm hurt and sickened by the actions of this man. As we stand by and watch the biggest mass shooting in American history unfold, there are a few things we need to remember.

What was believed to be a kidnapping of 6-year-old, JonBenet Ramsey, ended up to be the discovery of her dead body by her father in the basement, after multiple hours of searching in Ramsey's house (Saferstein, 2015.) A major issue with the case was that the house was not sealed off, and multiple people, including their pastor, were able to go to and from with no complications (Saferstein, 2015.) In defense of the police team, in the beginning, they had believed it to be a kidnapping with a note and all, and in the end, it turned out to be a murder. Of course the media's eyes immediately turned to the parents but one of the theories is, "The current theory stands that an intruder, with possible paedophilic motives, was responsible for her death, and while this has become a widely accepted working theory, there are several pieces of evidence that simply don’t add up" (Team, 2016.) The ransom note was 2 and a half pages long, her body was found in the basement of the families home, the cause of death showed strangulation and a blow to the head an hour or so before, and also pineapple that she had eaten recently with a bowl that led to her brother's fingerprints were all clues that didn't add up (Team, 2016.)

In his article “Real-life mass shootings: The subject Hollywood dare not touch”, Alex Suskind focuses on the gun epidemic in America and discusses reasons why Hollywood shows immense brutality in movies but don’t dare to create one about real-life mass shootings. His main claim is that Americans prefer escapism to realism in movies.

On February 25, 2015, four of the five Fink’s were brutally murdered in their Cold Spring home. The police have apprehended their only known survivor, witness, and suspect. 17 year old Mercer Fink is currently being held by authorities, for questioning, in the Cold Spring Detention Center. All though she maintains her innocence, the teen has the evidence stacked up against her. The autopsy showed blunt force trauma and a gunshot wound to the head were the causes of death for each of the victims while the ballistic report proved that the bullets came from the Fink family gun. Further tests are being done, but it looks like the troubled teen will rot in a cell for many years to come.
