There has been many mass shootings in the U.S. The deadliest shooting that has ever happened was the Las Vegas one that happened on October 1, 2017. The Las Vegas Massacre killed around 59 people and injured around 527 others. Stephen Paddock is the shooter and committed suicide before the police found him. This is the deadliest mass shooting ever in American history. On June 10, 2016 there was another deadly shooting. Omar Mateen was responsible for the hate crime that he did. He opened fire at a gay club. It happened at Pulse Night Club. He killed 49 people and injured 58 others. Omar Mateen was shot and killed by the police. George hennard was the gunman. He killed 23 people and injured 27 others. He drove into the front window of Luby’s restaurant and immediately started shooting. When the police arrived he had a shoot out with them. He er on killed himself. The motive is still unclear. On july 18, 1984 There was a massacre in San Ysidro, California. The shooting took place at a nearby McDonald's. James Huberty is responsible for the massacre. He killed 22 people and injured 19 others. James was later on killed by the SWAT. Former marine Sharpshooter Charles Whitman was responsible for the shooting. He killed 18 people (including an unborn child) and injured 31 others. Before the shooting happened he killed his wife and mother at his home. He was later on shot and killed by the police. The D.C. Sniper Attacks were a group of attacks that took place between October 2 to October 24, 2002. The Perpetrators were John Allen Muhammad and Lee Boyd Malvo. Ten people were shot and killed at the Beltway Attacks and three people were killed before that. Three people were also injured by the bullet, but were not killed. They asked for $10 Million Dollars to stop the attacks so that they could start a Utopian country in Canada for black children.

The Virginia Tech shooting was one of the biggest shooting. Seung-Hui Cho was the mass murderer of the Virginia Tech shooting. Cho killed 33 people and injured 18 more. I am going to explain a little of who Cho is and some information about the Virginia Tech shooting. I will also explain the motives behind the why he did the shooting and how officers responded to the crime. Finally, I will explain how Virginia Tech and campuses across the nations have changed there active shooter situations.
Strathfield Massacre In previous years, owning a gun in the United States was an uncontrolled issue. Every Tom, Dick, and Harry could walk in a gun store and so long as they did not have any previous criminal record or mental problems, they were eligible to buy a gun. There was no control as to how many guns one could own either. This was a loophole in the regulations as it enabled many people to access the weapon without finding out what they were using it for.

On December 24th 2012 a few firemen in west Webster, my hometown, responded to a working house fire. When they arrived on scene a gunman opened fire with a firearm killing LT. On April 25th of 1980 Bobby James Moore who was 20 at the time, along with two other men (Willie Albert Koonce and Evertte Anthony Pradia) were in the process of robbing a convenient store located in Houston, Texas, when James McCarble (store clerk) was fatally shot. When Scott realized what was occurring she started to scream, this is when Bobby James Moore than shot 73-year old employee James McCarble in the head killing her. Moore fled the scene, and was found 10 days later, arrested and charged with capital murder- the jury sentenced him to death.

As stated before mass shootings have increased drastically throughout the decades. Just within 2017, the number of mass shootings are 293 with several deaths and injuries, (“Gun Violence Archive”). Within the last 10 years, the deadliest mass shootings have occurred in America history, (CNN). Recently in Las Vegas, Nevada held a music festival for people to enjoy and listen to music, but a shooting changed the evening for many. A man was in an hotel near the event and shot down towards the people and killed a total of 58 people and injured at least 200, (CNN). The Orlando shooting was right behind it with a total of 49 dead, (CNN). Since this has become a part of our everyday lives, we rarely hear about all the mass shootings that kill not even into the double digits.
Last week, on Valentines day there was a mass shooting at Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. 17 people were killed and 15 more were taken to hospitals, making this one of the world’s most deadliest school massacres.
