In the year 2015, 372 mass shootings and sixty-four school shootings were recording in the United States of America (BBC News). This is ginormous increase from the average number of mass shootings a year between the years 2007 to 2013, which was 16.4 (Schmidt). Even though it is not acceptable to have sixteen mass shootings a year, it is still a far more rational number as opposed to the 372 in 2015. Nowadays someone does not even need to watch the news to hear about a mass shooting happening, if not the United States, somewhere in the world. It has become an epidemic in America that needs to change, and fast.

In actuality, most people do not realize that whenever two or more people are injured or killed by a gun, it is considered a mass shooting. These “mass shootings” happen every day in America and they are one of the leading causes of death in

Mass shootings have become a popular trend within the media and have given the impression that it is the new normal.
