For years, public service has been an integral part of my life. However, after coming to Harvard, consulting has become a passion of mine as well. A common dilemma is how to blend both interests into one. Little did I know that I would find this internship at MassIT. If given the opportunity, I would utilize my research and consulting skills to make a difference within the Massachusetts government.
Since a young age, my parents have stressed the importance of serving those around me. Growing up, I was particularly involved with local charities and organizations to make a difference on a micro scale. Although time spent at the local Red Cross and homeless shelter was well spent, I always knew I could do more. Fast forward to Harvard where I found that opportunity. Through the Small Claims Advisory Service (SCAS), the only Massachusetts organization working to help citizens navigate our Commonwealth’s small claims court system, I have made a profound impact. At first it seemed like any other charitable

Last summer, I interned for one of Texas’s top personal injury law firms, The Ferguson Law Firm. There, I improved not only my legal research and writing skills, but also my speaking skills. In order to realize success, I spent numerous hours in conference rooms discussing court room strategy with firm partners. These skills are directly transferable to MassIT’s internship. If chosen to intern, I will both be able to and feel confident in advising management personal on changes that should be implemented within the office. Moreover, my legal research skills are interchangeable with the policy research skills needed to succeed. After years of research-intensive high school debate, I have become adept at compiling information on specific topics. Not only was that apparent within my legal research tasks, but it will be beneficial in researching different state practices for
Additionally, Ms. Huang emphasized Cardozo’s dedication to practical legal skill is a pivotal asset post graduation. The ideal location and wide range of clinics, externships and internships offered at Cardozo truly are . Moreover, not only will students sharpen their lawyering skills, given the plethora of programs, they can engage in a program they will be passionate about. With New York City as its backdrop, it is the epicenter of a multicultural and diverse setting generates stimulating class discussions that ultimately enrich the
I define myself as a curious researcher and reflective practitioner who perceives legal education as a combination of passion and practicality. Whereas my idealistic side wants to thoroughly understand the development of global legal ethics, my pragmatic side asks what actions should be taken by lawyers to solve international legal problems. Hence, Penn Law’s core strengths in providing a remarkably interdisciplinary learning experience and the program of Legal Practice Skills will be the bridge to my academic and professional aspirations.
I specifically chose this internship experience because previously, I held internships at Flood Law, a defense law firm, and the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office and I figured this internship is a progression. I was definitely interested in exploring the different areas in law to figure out what it is that I wanted and did not want to do and this internship, by far has helped me do that. This internship experience has shaped my career ambitions, as I will further go into detail during the duration of this paper, by allowing me to be exposed to the different areas of law, which then made me decide on what I found to be interested in and areas I did not so much
As the internship program and the training intended, I have learned much related to my major, Criminal Justice. This internship helped me to acknowledge that qualified, knowledgeable professionals are needed by our complex society to define, administer, and put our rules and standards into force. Like jobs in any other field, to work in the field of law requires expertise. Trained experts are the most desirable to be hired by organizations, tasked to manage justice, to direct their operations. By writing articles for the legal website, I learned to assess law enforcement situations orderly. I learned to make use of the basic legal and management theories to analyze the situations. I got the opportunity to show my understanding of the key process in the U.S. criminal justice system. I also learned to combine approaches from management, law, and the behavioral science to apply them to the situations I was studying.
My motivation is to be part of moving the U.S. government into the 21st century. The 115th Congress will face many challenges shaping U.S. technology policies and regulations. As a Congressional Innovation Intern, I will improve my capacity to effect change by applying my technology and policy skills to assisting with this effort. The internship will provide invaluable experience in learning how legislative change happens in Congress. Taken together, these will enhance my ability to effect the change I anticipate in my future career.
From when I was ten until I was fifteen, I wanted to become a lawyer. I’ve always had impressive public speaking skills, a persuasive personality, and a knack for debate, so it seemed like the perfect fit for me. However, upon a taking a law class my sophomore year, I realized that lawyering might not be exactly what I expected it to be. As I learned about the different laws and the complexities of the court system I was
Although I gained some knowledge about the public sector throughout my internship experiences, I still have the urge to learn and experience more about this subject. Being an intern at the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office: Victim Assistance Program got me more involve in the subject of public administration. As an intern, I had to inform the victims about the services the Victim Assistance Program offers. In addition, my responsibilities were to document calls for statistical purposes. I had to maintain files/records of the victims as well.
Experience is an attribute of ultimate success in the workforce. In order to gain experience, I recently completed an internship at the Marion County Prosecutor 's Office (MCPO). I worked for the paralegals within the Sex Crimes and Domestic Violence Units of the Prosecutor 's Office. While completing this internship, I learned several lessons that will help to enhance my professional ambitions following graduation, while simultaneously learning about the functionality and dysfunctionality of the organization byand theorizing on how the organization could improve.
In high school, I served on the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation’s Youth Council. As a member, I was responsible along with 24 other high schoolers to allocate $80,000 in grant money each year. This council was completely student-run with only one adult advisor, so we were forced to efficiently collaborate and manage diverse opinions. Not only did I learn a great deal about the nonprofit world, but I also became better at critically evaluating proposals and clearly expressing my opinion to others. In addition, I was recently hired as an Associate Consultant for SOURCE, CMC’s student-run nonprofit consulting group. Although I have only been on SOURCE for a short period of time, I have already improved my interpersonal skills while interacting with our client and have grown more comfortable with working on independent and collaborative projects. More than anything, I will a bring a passion for nonprofits to the Kravis Prize Council. I am genuinely excited to bring innovative ideas to the council and to improve the Kravis Prize in any way that I
My experience interning in Belize with ROWKids this summer was incredible. When looking back over my time there, it is challenging to accurately summarize the experience, but here is an overall view of what I did there.
Before I started the MCBS Program, I was very unsure if I was making the right decision. It felt almost paralyzing trying to figure out if it was even worth my time trying to pursue a creative career. I had always been interested in a the communications industry. Just the idea of working in either journalism or public relations seemed so exciting to me. However, I began to have my doubts. Making it even more agonizing to make a decision, I was later hit with unexpected health issues. I would become extremely fatigued and lightheaded. I also developed a constant case of trembles and nausea. It became very difficult for me and I was forced to leave school my junior year and become home schooled. I had always been such a good student taking AP classes and staying
During my internship at Allen & Gledhill, the aspect that stood out to me most was the willingness of my team with involving me in their ongoing deals and transactions. Often, this work was urgent or otherwise necessary to the client, and I felt that I learnt the most from experiencing a slice of what associates and partners of the firm deal with daily. This was a different approach from some of the other law firms I interned with, where I was often only given disparate pieces of research or work to do. I appreciate that Allen & Gledhill places utmost importance on exposing trainees to real work and I believe that I would benefit from this type of training. Furthermore, the firm’s increasingly regional approach provides aspiring lawyers like
I am excited to see that you have an opening for a positon of a Middle Office Analyst. I have just recently graduated from St. Francis College with a 3.8 grade point average, majoring in History and Political Science. During my academic life I have was passionate about my studies and previous internships where I grew and honed research and analytical skills. I am a team player and can work alone and finish any deadline. I have just recently wrote a 99 page thesis, for which I utilized my research and analytical skills to write and finish, which I received an A for. I have also used my skills along with my extreme proficiently in Microsoft Word and Excel to excel at my previous internships at the New York State Assembly and International Center
After completing my undergraduates in biology as well as my doctorates of Physical Therapy, I plan to continue my community service through as well as after college. I will definitely continue to volunteer for the Homeless Sandwich Runs through my church, St. George Coptic Orthodox Church. Likewise, I plan to help those who are in need of physical therapy, but are unable to afford it. For example, I can help students in the city of Chicago who injured themselves while playing sports. Since Chicago’s public schools are in need of great assistance, I believe my small actions can create enormous changes. Countless people are concerned about politics, gas prices, and the stock market, but in my opinion, they should be more concerned about the cities
This summer I worked as an Account Management Intern at Propel Marketing in Quincy, Massachusetts. Before this internship began, I had three learning objectives: to become more self-reliant, to become better with industry platforms like Salesforce and Adwords, and to learn what gets you promoted within a company and to adopt those skills and habits.
