World War II was one of the most devastating wars in history. It had a fatality number of Over 60 million people. There were many reasons that lead to the start of this second world war. Some examples are: Italian fascism in the 1930's, Japanese invasions of china also in the 1930's. Britain and France called on immediate war onto Germany once they invaded Poland. The United States joined much later into this war, due to the attack of the Japanese. On December 7th, 1941 the Japanese dropped bombs onto Pearl Harbor, this devastated many, and for the United States was our reason to fight. In terms of technology there were many advances to the warfare. Tanks saw significant advancements, including increased speed, armor and firepower, which helped a lot in the deployment of tanks to certain places in the fast pace war. Navy battleships no longer dominated the sea, newly designed aircraft carriers were equipped with greater range and a heavier striking power. Production of small arms changed dramatically with the introduction of stamping, riveting and welding. Semi-automatic rifles and assault rifles were also developed during this era. Aircraft development was a crucial component of World War II due to its increased use throughout the war with bombers and fighters. Massive bombing raids were being utilized as an alternative to static trench warfare. From 1941 to 1945, Jews were targeted and murdered in a genocide acted out by nazis forces spread through out Europe. to be more in depth, Postwar Europe, in complete ruins. World war 1 which went from 1914-1918, after the war the United States withdrew from the League of Nations, so that they weren't involved in European Affairs. The war ended officially on September second of 1945, ironic it started on September first of 1939. The living conditions were awful for basically all the soldiers of the war. The United States soldiers living conditions were essentially long hours of hard physical labor, painful slow moving under heavy weights and tedious boredom , along with moments of sheer gut-wrenching terror. in "GI Joe: US Soldiers of World War Two" By Captain Dale Dye USMC (Retd) he said "It was a hard way to live, more like a hobo than a human being, and creature comforts of any kind were hard to find. They were always hungry and usually moving too fast for field kitchens and hot chow to catch up with the advance." That should really show how had t must have been to where you dont have time to eat. No matter what the weather was like, dehydration was always a concern for the American troops. Marching made them sweat, and combat left them dry-mouthed and croaking. The little bit of water that they could get was often what they could dip out of a shell-hole.
