1. Why are you in college? I have already worked in the area of education for almost a decade and I wanted to go back to college to learn and to focus on the educational area so that I can continue provide good service to my community. 2. Have you gone through matriculation and orientation / met with a Cerro Coso Counselor? Because I am not located near any of the Cerro Coso campuses, I have already done the online orientation instead. 3. How do you think you best learn (hearing material, reading, exercises, discussions, etc.)? I am a visual learner, so I would like to be able to see and read the materials. I learn best by seeing demonstrations and I enjoy hands on activities. 4. How can I help you succeed in this class? I believe
As a visual learner, I can rely on diagrams and pictures to help me in science practical. I can get a clear image of what
My primary goal for going to school is to be able to make my family proud and do something beneficial with my degree.
Understanding these learning techniques in my particular working environment is really important because our creative education system has high demands in regard to them. I use visual
The area I am most interested is elementary education and certified in bilingual education. When I moved to this beautiful country without knowing anything about the culture or the language, my teachers were those who supported me and taught me the language. They helped me to integrate into this peculiar country. My teachers are the ones who inspired me to study and become a bilingual teacher. One of my goals is to help the students integrate into this culture and teach them the language with the same love and affection my teachers did. My planned pathway to become a teacher would be graduating Cumberland County College with an associate’s degree in education. After graduating, I plan to transfer to Stockton University to earn my bachelor degree in bilingual education. I would like to start working as a teacher assistant, and gain more experience that will help me when I become a teacher.
How long have you been teaching, and why did you choose a career in Education?
My purpose for attending college again is to enhance my opportunities within the field of education. I have been teaching high school level social science courses for over a decade, and I am ready to advance into administration. Having already attained the administrator endorsement on my teaching license, I believe it would be beneficial to have a degree in Business Administration to stand out in a pool of candidates. Running a school is not greatly dissimilar from running a business. If this helps me with my career goals, I will consider it to have been time well
I have been a full- time student for almost two years. My grades reflect my determination to succeed. Community college has given the opportunity to consider various careers, and I know what I want to do. My goal is to become a teacher. I have a passion for art, and I want to teach it. I have taken courses during high school and community college, and intend to take many more
I apologize for not getting back to you sooner in regards to approving my spring courses. As I mentioned to you I am just six credits away from a minor in Spanish and wanted to register for: SPA 314 01 (Cultures in Latin America) and SPA 421 01 (Spanish Theater). I was wondering if you were available to meet with me either this coming Tuesday or Thursday to go over my options and sign a close class form. Anytime before 3:00 p.m. works well with me.
I am currently starting my junior year here at the University of Nevada with a major in business management and a minor in community health science. Once I have completed my bachelor's degree I hope to continue my education with the intent of receiving
Ashley, I am A visual learner who strengths are memorizing information from my INFT124 course and it allows me to quickly remember simple and complex facts that relate to my course assignments. In addition to this, these activities also help me know what topics to research for my discussions with my classmates and it helps me understand how to complete my weekly assignments in an correct way. Finally, my visual learning style helps me learn how to write organized informative notes on important educational and business issues in this
I have two learning styles that tied. It would be thinking and watching. I knew I was a visual learner but found more about myself that I have imagined. I learned that I like to think while learning and analyzing what is being taught. I am very much a visual learner, when I am in a classroom setting I need to see what we are doing not just a lecture. When its just a lecture my mind wanders and I do not get what was being taught. I only wished more instructors/teachers taught visually. I know this is a weakness of mine so I am going to work on this the best to my ability. This was a very awesome assignment to do I think it helps me understand myself better and I can also, understand others as well better.
My children look up to me, so I have to show them how to be successful, by continuing my education.
When I was young, learning new things was a delight. I remember one teacher in particular who used a flannel board with pictures when she told us a story. To this day, more than 50 years later, I can still see those pictures and remember the story she told. That simple remembrance indicates to me that I am a visual learner. Perhaps that is why I am hopeless when given a direction to go north on a particular route. Spatial directions mean nothing to me. A better way to navigate is to look for landmarks such as a store, or service station, or even a billboard sign. I need to see something I recognize to help me navigate. The same is true when I am learning something new. I need to mark up a text to learn from it. Videos and demonstration, are more helpful to me, than a lecture. McGrath (2009) notes that there may be similarities between adults and children in how they learn, but adult learners need to know why they are learning new knowledge before they are willing to participate. When I can see a reason for learning something, I am more invested in the outcome of the process. For example, learning how a combustion engine
Stacy, I agree with you on being a visual learner, I also like taking lots of notes, or having handouts which I can refer back to. I do the same thing when it comes to reading, which sometimes hinders me from soaking the information in, that is why I also agree it is important to know your stengths and weaknesses, so you can continue to sharpen your strengths and also learn ways to sharpin your
Other resources come in the form of handouts, these are given to all learners but benefit visual learners the most. On top of the handouts given I regularly do group and individual demonstrations relating to the subject that is being covered in the session this allows for any learning differentiation taking place.
