On Democracy Now, Chilean economist Manfred Max-Neff discusses the problems the economic system is facing today. He first discusses barefoot economics. Barefoot economics is a metaphor stating economists cannot truly understand poverty unless they either experience it first hand or observe how the poor live. Knowledge on a subject is not enough. Today, knowledge is immense, but comprehension is less. Max-Neef explains how one can learn different values and principles from the poor due to the immense creativity they posses.
