If you never stop learning, life will always be interesting and filled with new opportunities. My mission to continually stretch myself has led me to return to school again at an age most people are thinking more about their children’s college loans rather than their own.
My main goals behind receiving an MBA at this point in my life are dual. First, I would like to further my business education, and to pursue other areas of finance. I have come to this conclusion after many years of introspection and realizations about where my career is, and where I would like to be. With getting my MBA, my hope is to join a prominent finance organization with the ultimate goal of

I feel I would contribute to the group in several ways including, managing and accurately completing multiple requests with short turnaround times, gather and conveying information from different sources, and strengthening my own foundation of knowledge to use as a resource. However, while I am an excellent team player, I do have weaknesses as well. Math is one of my poorest subjects since high school, and in college, therefore if accepted into the MBA business program; this will be made know to my team.
Wanting to be a successful leader of an organization, I have to learn all aspects of organization outside of defined contribution such as marketing or system administration. I have found that I need to overcompensate for my soft appearance in order to get my point across. By attending Concordia University, I will gain exposure to both theories and practices in the world of business. I will obtain a deeper understanding of management concepts, and be able to apply those concepts to real life situations on the job. I hope to improve my negotiating skills, and to gain more experience in getting my team to carry their own weight. At the same time, I don’t want to be a dictator, but to be effective, it’s important for a manager to maintain the proper balance of power and compassion. Only in this way, will I be able to lead a group of people to realize an organization’s goal. Aside from advancing my
There are several reasons as to why I settled on MBA - Finance as my concentration of choice. First and foremost, from quite an early age, I had a great liking for analytical subjects. Indeed, I found mathematics more interesting than science subjects. This is a passion that has continued to propagate in me and for this reason; I would say that my selection of the said concentration comes naturally. Next, my concentration of choice happens to be in line with my long-term career goals. As I have already indicated elsewhere in this text, I intend to become a finance director in a reputable organization. I view an MBA in Finance as a stepping stone towards this particular goal. It is important to note that competition for jobs in the
In December 2014, The Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education published “Rethinking the Admission Process.” This article was written by Frank DiMaria, who takes a look at the research of the former president of the University of Wyoming, Robert Sternberg. DiMaria explains Sternberg’s stance against the current admissions process. Sternberg has research that depicts, “GPA, standardized tests, and essays do not successfully measure the true talent of a college applicant.” He believes that the policies need to change. Sternberg offers an alternative to the current process. Sternberg has been a part of a new admissions policy testing students not just on their memorization and analytical skills, but on their creative, practical, and wisdom-based skills as well. Sternberg’s ideas stem from his experience with disadvantaged youth and their ability to adapt and overcome obstacles. Sternberg claims that students who grow up in the upper middle class tend to have an environment which better values the analytical skills that the current tests measure. He argues that, because of this, colleges may not be getting the most creative and adaptable students. He shows that some of these less privileged students are capable of handling a college workload even though they may not have been able to score as high on the SAT or other tests. DiMaria believes that through Sternberg’s Kaleidoscope policy may be a solution. The Kaleidoscope way of admissions administers tests which ask open ended
Babson excites me due to its highly accredited reputation within the business world. Many well respected professionals in this field are Babson alumni and in the future I can envision myself as a part of this esteemed group. I can see myself succeeding at Babson due to my work ethic. Throughout high school I pushed myself academically and with extra-curricular activities. These activities include playing sports, clubs and working at my local mountain. All of these activities have helped me understand organization, time management, how to work with a team and other useful skills that can easily crossover into a workplace environment. Working retail at my local ski mountain really helped open my eyes to the world of business, even though it was only at the consumer level. I could actively see economic principles effecting customers buying habits and how goods were stocked. As I further my economic intelligence more of these principles become apparent to me. As a
For me accounting is personal. As an immigrant, life has seldom been easy. It has been marked by continuous sacrifice, unfamiliar settings, and unnerving trials. From an early age I witnessed my parents painstakingly keep track of their income and expenses in order to make ends meet. Such trying moments were the early signs of my inclination towards accounting. In essence, these painful experiences stirred something within me, something that culminated into a passion. After exposure to numerous accountants and academic courses, I was firmly convinced accounting was my calling. In pursuing my calling, I attended Miami Dade Honors College and earned an Associate of Arts Degree in Accounting. Afterwards, I transferred to Florida International University, where I hope to acquire my Bachelor of Accounting in April 2018.
The world of finance and business is a complicated and ubiquitous arena, and the axis around which most of our society’s most important issues move. Having worked for a number of years in a multitude of administrative positions, I feel in many ways as though I have merely skimmed the surface of a field that is brimming with professional opportunities. The pursuit of a Master’s in Business Administration will enable me access tap previously unused resources in my own skills set, giving me the formal education to take my knowledge to the next level.
The University of Pennsylvania has one resource that no other establishment in the world can offer to me: the highest caliber of intellectuals in my field. Given that I intend on attending the Wharton School of Business and with the goal of becoming a financial manager, and then rising further along corporate ladder, I must be at the absolute forefront of the field and gain as many connections as I can along the way. Not to be used, people are not tools. But, I am NOT one who is content to let themself fall into the pit of mediocrity And I recognize that the success of one individual can inspire success in those around them. Thus, is researched the different groups that students have put together for the mutual benefit of both University of Pennsylvania and the Wharton School of Business and the multitude of opportunities they present myself: investment experience, interdisciplinary education, and furthering my understanding of the Chinese economy.
I’m drawn to design because it is everywhere and has the potential to affect so much of how people feel about a certain space or about an experience. From a young age, I was fortunate to be exposed to art; my parents would constantly take my brother and me to museums and galleries and at home, my grandmother would teach me skills such as crocheting, needlepoint and how to replicate food out of playdough. In both elementary school and middle school I drew and created little things such as bookmarks and stuffed animals, but I was never known as the “art kid”. I loved art and I understood that there was so much potential to create something original and to express an idea, but I just didn't understand how. Early eighth grade I found out about
From completing the questionnaire I think my core skills of team working and communication need moderate development. The team roles that best describe me are: Monitor Evaluator, Team worker and Completer/Finisher (Belbin 1993). If I know myself as well as I think I do, I think these roles are more in line with my personality. At work I get involved in various projects and 4
I vividly remember my first time visiting my high school and the school ambassador who took me to all of her classes and showed me around the school. I knew from that day that I wanted to be in her position in the future, and passing down the kindness I have received from her to other students. That’s how I ended up volunteering at the office of admission and it became one of the highlight of my high school experience. It was such a rewarding experience as I was able to represent my school and create a sense of community with the other admission office volunteers. I would love to continue helping others to the best of my ability here at Pepperdine and I am confident I will be able to assist applicants and prospective students through sharing my own experiences and knowledge.
Public Administration, as a field, had always captivated me right from my undergraduate days. I believe my curiosity for this field comes from my family. Both my father and my uncle were politicians. During my early days, I used to go to my father’s office where I had a great chance to observe different kinds of people with various jobs and interests. This was the first time I learned how mutual interests bring people together. When I understood how public relations work naturally, it forced me strongly to study and comprehend the complex theory of politics. After finishing high school, I made up my mind to pursue a career in Political Science. For this reason, I was enrolled to Istanbul Bilgi University’s Political Science program. After
To be an effective contributor to the learning of my peers in the MBA program, I will share my knowledge and my area of strengths with my peers, providing them with positive and negative feedback, as it is very important, and critical to improve ourselves.
One of my purposes is getting my MBA. I can achieve this purpose best by focusing on what my goal is in life.
Such an experience will broaden my perspective to face challenges in the global financial services industry and bring in unlimited opportunities to innovate and add value. As there are many financial services provided by Banking and Financial institutions, my long-term aspiration (over 5 years, post-MBA) is to deepen my understanding of functions such as Corporate Banking, Investment banking and Retail Banking, identify my core competencies in such a diverse industry and head one of these functions in a multi-national financial services corporation.
After a great deal of self evaluation, I have resolved to pursue management studies. Management studies have never been my goal until I graduated, saying otherwise would be just an equivocation of the fact that slowly and steadily I started considering management studies to accomplish my long term goals and enhance my management skills. After experimenting with my career and meeting with many business enthusiasts, It was certain by the time that I want to pursue with MBA, to excel. Along with that my ultimate professional goal of discovering myself as a key decision maker, emboldened my decision.
Too many people think that learning ends after college. Sure, graduation may mean that you no longer need to study for exams, but that does not mean that people can or should stop learning new things. In fact, developing your skills and improving upon your understanding of the world should be more important after you graduate than ever. Because of how fast-paced the world we live in is right now, it is almost impossible to keep up. This means that for you to further your career, fulfill your potential, and simply become more successful in life, it is crucial that you never stop
