They have provided a questionnaire that examines general behavior tendencies. This model is used by our organization and I have used it for my preferred learning style as well. There are four learning styles to this i.e.; Activists, Pragmatist, Theorist and Reflector. After taking that questionnaire I can confidentially say that my preferred learning style is a combination of both Activists and Pragmatist depending on the situation. Personal Development Plan (PDP) is a specific plan for your future in short-term of six months or twelve months. It is necessary that you have objectives set up for yourself, and plans and actions to be taken in order to achieve those objectives. Following PDP is a good way to improve yourself, and to acquire skills and knowledge. Therefore, it is advisable to continue doing PDP one after another. Also, PDP includes your CV, so you can update it with new experiences or skills acquired.
1.3 Identify a range of learning and development opportunities which support the achievement of the personal development plan
This personal development plan is important for me in that it will allow me to see how I fit in an organization, and actually be able to reflect on my characteristics. My ultimate goal in life is to become an entrepreneur. I’m not sure what industry I want to be in quite yet, but I know my end goal. My dad, since I was little, has drilled it into my mind that I should be in a business where I’m still making money when I’m not physically at work. That notion has stuck with me and I’m trying to take an emergent strategy to get there.
Personal development objectives are affected by organisations goals, as companies will want to steer their employees in a direction that should meet their corporate strategy and link into the mission statement. However, personal objectives and organisational objectives should tie in together and have a common goal, which should meet the needs of both participants (Dransfield, 2000). Although organisational objectives can hold a negative attribute to employee’s personal development, if the company invests time into employees PDP and employees can see that there is a plan in place for job promotion, then they’re more likely to keep their staff (Cotton, 2011). A future plan will add value to the business as it will improve employee’s skills and personal development strengths which will give a positive effect on the company performance.
