People see McDonald’s and think fast food restaurant. But little do some people know that it is connected to a charity called the Ronald McDonald House. The people should donate to the Ronald McDonald organization because it helps children and families around the world.
McDonald’s Corporation are the most successful and popular fast food brand in the world, holding the largest fast food market share and being the leading fast food restaurant chain in terms of world sales (8%). McDonalds is one of the biggest fast food companies in the market share today. It has been running in over 119 countries, as well as they have acquired over 31,000 restaurants in the world now. McDonald’s brand mission is to be customers’ favourite place and way to eat, they are aligned around a global strategy called the ‘Plan to Win’, they also committed to continuously improving their operations and enhancing their customers’ experience. As we all know that McDonald’s had successfully achieved their goal through out the years. (aboutmcdonald’s, 2012) Apart from this, as McDonald’s is a worldwide company, they also had the social responsibility to return the community; therefore, the ‘Ronald McDonald House Charities’ was
McDonald's has successfully created a brand/name for itself as the leading fast food retailer in the world. It is somewhat of impossibility for one to not come across a McDonald's with over 30,000 local restaurants in over 100 countries (McDonald's, 2011). Those restaurants are owned either by a franchise owner or a corporation; a percentage of all the earnings from a franchise owner, including a percentage from their annual revenue go to McDonald's.
Since Richard and Maurice McDonald founded in 1948, McDonald's has grown from a small restaurant in California into one of the most recognized brands in the world with a chain of outlets that spans the globe. For over 50 years, McDonald's defined the fast food industry while indelibly etching its golden arches logo on the face of both American and global culture through such icons as character Ronald McDonald and the Big Mac sandwich. Millions of people started their very first jobs at McDonalds while even more began to have their eating habits redefined by the chain. Concepts like the drive-thru window were introduced along with the Happy Meal for children in order to provide a fast, affordable, and enjoyable dining. Ray Kroc, saleman
In the fast food wars, if annual sales and size is all one cares about then McDonalds is the sure leader but when looking at the things that are similar and yet different about each restaurant, Chick-Fil-A stands out far greater in one area. It appears they give back substantially more to the community than McDonalds. Maybe its because Chick-Fil-A founder, Truett Cathy desired to be committed to being a different kind of fast food store. He said “We should be more than just selling chicken, we should be a part of our customer’s lives and the communities in which we serve”, Since 2004, McDonalds corporate claims over $37 billion dollars has been donated to the Ronald McDonald House. These revenues are not coming through corporate or franchised
When McDonald’s was put on the spot for advertising to children, a spokesperson said, “Ronald McDonald never sells to children… He informs and inspires through magic and fun.” This statement alone builds-up Ronald McDonald. Instead of a marketing strategy, he is an inspirational, magical character, supporting much higher ideals than simply trying to increase sales. McDonald’s is also guilty of not addressing issues. The company will instead draw attention to the Ronald McDonald house, and other good they have done. McDonald’s, like other food companies, employs card stacking to avoid issues and build up their reputation.
However, there could be some issues in the message that the company wants to communicate to them and the way in which communicates. Another important point is the level of penetration that has the image of Ronald McDonald in the society (collective unconscious). When we see Ronald we all think in the hamburgers, french fries and the Golden Arches; it is for this reason that it is not possible to remove Ronald McDonald from the commercial of McDonald's, because it is an icon that has contributed to the company occupying the sixth place among the global brands of greater value. So it could be said that without Ronald there is no McDonald and vice
The brand I selected to study for my semester-long project was the Ronald McDonald House. The Ronald McDonald House provides families of children staying in the hospital a “home away from home.” The Ronald McDonald House was created in 1988 and has helped over 10,000 families. Since opening their doors, the Ronald McDonald House has expanded their organization to help families in over 322 locations.
Iowa’s Ronald McDonald House opened in 1985 at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City, although the concept has been around since 1973. The idea of a “home-away-from-home” started in Philadelphia when Fred Hill, from the Philadelphia Eagles football team, learned his daughter, Kim, had leukemia. The team did fundraising for Kim and other sick children, raising money for the first house in 1974. This first house had generous donations from McDonald’s
Aside from their products and services, these corporations have “Giving back to the communities,” page. These companies give back to their communities by giving scholarships, promote adoption, and create foundations to those in need. For instance, The Ronald McDonald House Charities, Have-It-Your-Way Foundations, and Wendy’s wonderful kids- Dave Thomas Foundation of Adoption. All three of these companies are nationwide as well. McDonalds and Wendy’s dominate more than Burger King does, but all have restaurants worldwide.
