This story is about Hazel Lancaster, a 16-year-old girl with cancer, and when she meets Augustus Waters, a previous cancer patient who had his leg amputated to stop the cancer in his leg. In the beginning, Hazel’s mom makes her go back to a cancer support group for teens. She goes and meets Augustus Waters. While hanging out at his house the evening they met, he wanted her to read his favorite book, which was an action book. She agreed on one condition, he has to read her favorite book, An Imperial Affliction. Although it is an emotion-provoking book, it is flawed. Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, seems longer than it needs to be, but if you are a person who likes brutally honest description,then you will love it. For me the introduction into characters and highschool dragged on longer than it needed to, but it did end up knowing Greg better. The author says a few times that the book is poorly written, and doesn’t follow the standard rules of writing

Just finished “As I lay Dying”. I had a love hate relationship with this novel. As the Bundern’s family traveled farther in their journey, the events became difficult for me to read. The family could not catch a break and Faulkner never really made it clear they deserved to.

Rachel Carson was a scientist and author who took a topic which had hitherto been only of interest to fellow scientists and opened it up to the masses. During her lifetime, she took up many causes in support of wildlife and the protection of species and protecting the natural landscape from potential molestation from developers and others who would destroy indigenous habitats. Among her many missions was to make people aware of the hazards of certain chemicals on the environment, such as pesticides on vegetation as examined in her most famous work Silent Spring.

For this reaction paper, I have chosen the topic of whether or not I believe that the Affordable Care Act (Obama Care) should be repealed, replaced with something else, or stay in its current form. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green and Me and Earl and The Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews are novels that have a similar concept. In The Fault in Our Stars, Augustus and Hazel meet and become friends. After spending a lot of time together, the two fall in love with each other even though they are both dying from terminal illnesses. In Me and Earl and The Dying Girl, Gregg is forced by his mother to become friends with Rachel, who has been diagnosed with leukemia and is almost dying. The books bring out the challenges that people encounter before they can become real friends. The challenges show how the members of the society try to fight friendship, and it still becomes the source of their desired comforts. From The fault in our stars we can see that Hazel is trying to evade Augustus but Augustus persists, “You realize that trying to keep your distance from me will not lesson my affections for you.” The Fault in our stars clearly depicts friendship and love while Me and Earl and The dying girl clearly brings out friendship.
