I met with Cindy Jones, Food Service Director at New Philadelphia City Schools. Jones oversees all of our food service operations within the district. She plans menus, orders and tracks inventory, assists the cooks with day-to-day operations, approves free and/or reduced lunch applications and maintains the budget allocated for our food services. Currently, New Philadelphia City Schools uses Meals Plus as their point-of-sale system. Jones stated when she was researching and thinking about purchasing a POS systems she liked Meals Plus for two reasons. First, she like how discrete the system was for student use. You’re correct by making the apology and patient meal the top priority. By making their meal the number one priority at that point you would have shown the patients that they are not an afterthought which they may fell that they are at that point. By speaking with the kitchen staff supervisor you’ve made a decision based upon the kitchen supervisor following up with the discipline of the department, but in most instances as the DTR you’ll be expected to have some supervisory role over the kitchen staff especially the staff that has patient interaction. I believe just mentioning it to the patient doesn’t display the importance of not forgetting meals. Meals in the national care department are vital as they we know that a person’s nutrition will
Meals on Wheels, an organization that feeds elderly who can’t feed themselves, is planned to get some of its funding cut off with the president’s new financial plan. Meals on Wheels has been feeding the unfortunate since the 1950’s (Carroll A10), leaving this organization to rely on public funding is not a solution to government spending. This organization improves the diets and lives of many elderly by giving them food for their specific needs, and giving them someone who comes and visits. Older people should not be just ignored, their resources are important too. These are grandparents and parents that need, or will need, this kind of help. President Trump can not pretend that the elderly are not people too, considering he himself is seventy. Defunding such companies and institutions will lead to a path of ignorance and uncaring mindsets, and there is something to be done about it.
