Hidden Meanings in Lyrics Artists use their words in songs or raps to portray a deeper meaning. In the song, “The A Team” by Ed Sheeran, there is a message that Sheeran is writing to his audience. This song explains the life of a lady who has involved herself in prostitution. The lady sells herself to any man who will take up her offer. She does these acts since she needs money to buy drugs and to pay whoever she may be working for. Ed Sheeran depicts an image through words to show how prostitution can be damaging in a physical, mental, and emotional way. He also presents the affects this job has on oneself and others. “The A Team” is a description about the life of a prostitute and how it has affected her lifestyle. In verse 1 of the song,
At the beginning the singers are in white dresses and they have black paint being splattered on them. The white dress is supposed to be a significance of their pureness and how they were just “a little country girl band before”, then the black paint is supposed to be a reference to the hate and how they are “not so perfect” anymore. In the mid video, the lead singer (the one who had made the statement) stands up because she is tired of it. As the other sisters try pulling her down meaning “don’t say anything”. They are being put through hell by people and having their reputation completely ruined.
This really illustrates how cell phone companies along with there contracts have underlying charges that are hidden to the consumer. Often people who buy or qualify for these phones often do not read the contract documents. This song incorporates a form of sarcasm subliminally set in the context.
Furthermore, various songs are specifically written with certain intentions and nuances to express the artist’s values and beliefs about a topic such as, love or the natural phenomena. Based on the passage, “ Source 2: Selling Out Not Worth the Risk”, it states “ But when outside interests enter the mix, they can replace the passion in an artist’s music and turn the art into just another tool for corporations.” To emphasize, businesses have the power to change any lyric in the song, so the song would lose it’s meaning and instead be about the product the business is selling. Even though, allowing corporations use an artist’s song for advertising a product, enables the artist’s song to be heard from an even more

Just as the songs sung by the slave on plantations, todays modern music contains hidden messages and codes. Many artists to this day are using songs to create some type of message without actually saying what they mean, this can easily be seen in today’s hip-hop music. Many famous rappers such as Drake and Kevin gates are hiding messages in their music. One example that comes to mind is a song by Drake that is called Back To Back, in this song there is a hidden message, that Drake is calling out another hip-hop artist and saying that he has no talent and that he is famous because of his girlfriend. Coded messages are typically not used for the same propose as plantation days. Although most of the music originally used to send coded messages
The song name says it all based on what it is written about. This is one of my favorite songs just based off the sound and the artist, Logic. The lyrics don’t have any significant impact on me but what really makes me appreciate this song now is this rapper’s story. The lyrics “Bet you people talking thought I'd sell out once I got a deal still me and my team, only difference - we live in the hills we living a dream, these b****** perpetrating the skills.” Stand out to me because Logic is talking about how he became successful with his “team” around other people while those people didn’t and because of that he received hate from them.
Your first thought is the love between the couple is toxic and lethal yet, he cannot resist his partner. But, really it is a reference to Cocaine. Cocaine is given a female voice. He uses personification by bringing the drug to life, where it can communicate with him and become part of his life. He knows that this “girl” meaning, Cocaine is going to be the death of him. While in use of Cocaine he gets numb. “But at least we’ll both be beautiful and stay forever young/ This I know, (yeah) this I know” (3-4). You say again, that he is singing about how the love is so very satisfying. But he is actually meaning that his desire for this young and beautiful woman makes him feel good. He feels as if he is invincible when he has her. Even though he seems to be aware of the consequences that come with feeling young and beautiful; with the use of Cocaine. “She told me, ‘Don’t worry about it.’/ She told me, ‘Don’t worry no more.’/ We both knew we can’t go without it/ She told me you’ll
The money ebing the motive for mostly everything in life. Then in the third line of the refrain we see the word "she", hinting at soem type of stripper, or possible a "Pro". Next lines after are just a reassurance from the weeknd bascically saying, "Great job, keep on going" while recongnizing that what shes doing is a difficult task to master and stay ahead with.
Many songs have deeper meanings then what we truly think. Its important to really take time out of the day, and sit down to dissect the song to find its true meaning, or maybe even its multiple different meanings, that have been hidden away. The song Almost Lover, by A Fine Frenzy, is one of the songs that could have multiple different meanings behind it. The female singer of A Fine Frenzy, is named Alison Sudol. Alison Sudol is from Seattle, Washington. She was born December 23, 1984. She sings mainly Indie songs, and also stars in a few movies. In the song Almost Lover, she is singing about her lover leaving her behind. Its a slow, Indie song that has sweet, but sad music to it. Many questions arise when it comes to

In the song “The A Team” Ed Sheeran successfully portrays the harsh realities associated with drug abuse and addiction, through using pathos provoking lyrics, and dramatic imagery. Ed Sheeran is an alternative artist and focuses on real life experience as a means to giving life to his music. He creates songs based on the good bad and ugly of our society and personal existences. In the song “The A Team” he depicts the life of a young woman seemingly under the age of 25, that is addicted to drugs. In the first scene of the music video we see a woman crying over what seems to be the corpse of the addict depicted in the song.
To start off, the first stanza in her song represents a sense of how unavoidable change is and how the confusion of the bond combined with the stress of the blame game can lead to a doomed
Ed Sheeran is a pop sensation with ten Grammy nominations and two wins, along with three very successful albums. Ed Sheeran’s song “Eraser” is the first song on his newest album Divide. It includes many personal lines emphasizing how fame has affected his life negatively. While Ed Sheeran has many songs describing this pain such as “Take it Back”, “You Need me I Don’t Need you”, and “I’m a Mess,” the song “Eraser” uses rhyme scheme, imagery, and repetition to convey that fame and the music industry has altered his daily life drastically. First, rhyme scheme, more specifically end rhyme is used to effectively describe that fame has altered Ed Sheeran’s life.
The lyrics of a song often have no substance and a clear example would be any Britney Spears song. The lyrics of “All Falls Down” are very deep. They talk about the ideal situation in life; We should go to school, get a good job and make money to buy what we want. The lyrics then ask, what if this doesn’t happen? This is prevalent in the first verse. “She has no idea what she doing in college. That major that she majoring, it don’t make no money.” The song questions these everyday values because we focus so much on these things, we don’t realize there are more important things in life such as life itself. Even Kanye admits that he spent money at Jacob’s Jewellery store before he thought about a house. “I went to Jacob with
Over the years, African American Music has developed as not only as cultural but also artistic phenomenon affecting the world. The music takes its own stand of being dominant as well of having a prevailing means of expression through the use of the lyrics. The lyrics of many songs tend to use a specific type of language in order to create that connection between the listeners. This certain style of language helps the listeners to think on a deeper level about the real meaning behind the lyrics.
