How Social Media Affects How We Get Our News Whether it is about Kylie Jenner's pregnancy or about the issue of kneeling during the National Anthem, most people have some type of news pop up on their social media accounts. Social media affects how we get our news by who we follow, whether the information we receive is credible or not, the opinions you, and others, have, and because the younger children are now able to view the news in their own way. Most people are able to “follow” accounts that are dedicated to reporting the news and some get it from people who talk about it or post about it . However, reliable information is hard to find because of how some accounts or organizations twist or alter the truth or show images or videos that compromise the truth, but platforms like Snapchat, make it easier. Since most juveniles have social media, they are automatically exposed to current events and the news. Opinions matter, and thats why most social media platforms are a great way to view or express them. Social media platforms are a great way to connect with the world no matter where you are. Websites, such as Facebook, create a way to follow other accounts, which means they can see their posts right along side the other accounts you follow . People follow their friends, celebrities, places like “The Town of Ridgeland” , and even accounts that post current events. These news accounts are a great way to keep up with current events.
