Organization Profile The organization asking for assistance with its campaign is a small mental health nonprofit in Singapore. The company operates facilities that provide services to the mentally ill such as counseling, hospital-alternative programs, case management, housing assistance, and community outreach. The community outreach branch has been participating in the World Suicide Prevention Day campaigns since they were first organized, but there has been very little participation by the community, or even similar agencies, in this effort. The company has a particular stake in this effort as the mentally ill population in the region is almost three times more likely to commit suicide than an individual who does not claim mental health problems (SingHealth, 2012).
Relevant Issues Singapore has its own committee that conducts a local suicide prevention day in March of select years (SingHealth, 2012), so assistance from the county is unlikely other than verbal support. The company does not have a large budget to support the effort and will have to conduct a fund raising drive prior to beginning the campaign to endure that enough funds can be dedicated to the effort. It is possible though that the country will provide some money via a grant. The day itself has not been well-publicized in the media in the years preceding this one.
