There are multiple health careers that rely on chemistry. However, understanding how health and chemistry are related demonstrates the common and also rare aspects of the human body. Heart attacks are an example of many different chemically related risks. Some of the causes may be familiar and not known as prime factors for heart attacks. High cholesterol serves as a risk factor for heart disease along with blood clots, diabetes, certain seafoods, stress, high blood pressure, and autoimmune conditions such as lupus or rheumatoid arthritis. The molecular and empirical formulas show how many atoms are present in the compound. For example, glucose or otherwise known as sugar, is the chemical molecular formula for glucose is C6H12O6 and the empirical formula is CH2O. This is because the numbers from the molecular formula can be simplified to come up with a simpler way of writing it. The molar mass of the sugar molecule contains 180.1559 g/mol. Using this molar mass, you can determine the amount needed to cause high levels of sugar in your blood by using an initial blood sugar in grams and converting it to grams of the amount you don’t need to produce. Sugar is a factor in diabetes. Having a high sugar level is likely to increase the chances of developing heart disease. It increases the damage to nerves and blood vessels and the complications from it can put your body at risk for having a heart attack.
