As viewed by many HIM professionals Computer-assisted coding is a valuable tool for enhancing the effectiveness of coding and billing. CAC software scans medical documentation in the electronic health record (EHRs) using a natural language processing (NLP) engine, identifying key terminology and proposing codes for that specific treatment or service. Human coder then revised these codes. CAC can also investigate the background of key words to conclude whether they need coding.
When people think about jobs in the health care field, it can be easy to assume that most jobs involve direct, hands-on patient care. As with most administrative jobs, medical coding and billing professionals need to have excellent attention to detail, as one wrong code or inaccurate statement can have an extremely negative
In the daily changes of healthcare, health information technology is evolving rapidly. The generation of coding is making significant developments along the years as well. The 3M-encoder system provides number of essential options to coders in just one click. It provides sophisticated, easy-to-learn solution for accurate, complete, and compliant coding and grouping. Coders need to be acquainted with these references because they provide back up through the articles in each one of them. 3M Coding and Reimbursement System, 3M Coding Reference, and 3M Coding Reference plus have articles for coders to read and get answers to use the appropriate codes. in the healthcare profession and a friend suggested medical coding. So I went through the door.
Over the past decade, virtually every major industry invested heavily in computerization. The heath care industry was no exception to the rise in the use of technology. These technologies are starting to allow health care practitioners to offer faster, and more efficient patient care than ever before. No doubt this is the right direction we expect health care to follow.
Advancements in technology, especially in computers, have caused a major impact on today’s healthcare. “More specifically, profound effect on modern day medicine.” [instruct.lanagara.ba.ca 1.] [1] It has changed almost every aspect of the medical field, from the instruments used to the medicines prescribed to the operations preformed.

Great response LaTonia, The course was probably an eye opener to all of us. I forgot about the billing, and making sure the patient is being billed for the correct services. Coding can be tricky, I took coding when I took electronic health information, there is so many different code types for instance there is diagnosis codes, ICD-10 treatment codes, HCPCS, even codes for equipment, and surgical procedures, CPT. My thinking was just on the financial part of the business, how to make a profit, how to stay competitive with other health care facilities. Giving quality health care I need to remember is not just one sided, every aspect has to be looked at in order to be successful.
Gaining expertise of electronic medical records and difficult medical terminology for scribes in training, many of which have never been exposed to a clinical environment, requires a thorough training system. Trainees often felt intimidated by the demands that physicians place upon them. As a beginning scribe in a level one trauma center, I myself felt terrified of functioning in such a fast paced and high-stress work environment. Through my confidence and perseverance, I quickly conquered these initial fears and thrived in the position. I used these experiences to help alleviate the discomfort felt by many of trainees so they can train to their highest potential. Training scribes also introduced me to the corporate aspect of business. After each training session, I provided feedback to the managing team and addressed the competence of each trainee to ensure efficient preparedness once signed off as a solo

My personal inspiration and influence for this project comes from my interests in the medical field, and STEM. Even as a child, I loved hands-on activities and STEM and the field of medicine really appealed to me because of those activities. Also, I always had a passion for information technology and I’ve always wanted to learn coding because it is the basis for websites, or apps and any mobile technologies found that we use majorly today. Personally, my influence was from an article about a twelve year old boy that constructed an app for his mom,
