In making a case for medical marijuana, I am not saying that this substance is safe for consumption but it has components that make it useful to treat patients with extenuating seizures and should only be contained for prescribed use. But my argument will do more than prove that one particular industrial chemical has certain toxic properties. In my article, I will also suggest alternatives of chemicals that produce similar results but are less damaging on the human body and the environment. My point about the national obsessions with sports backs up the belief held by many parents and teachers that athletics divert student-athletes from having a proper focus on education because of their their high dedication to playing the sport and intense
In the United States, we have enacted numerous bans and restrictions against certain drugs and substances with the purpose of protecting the general public from their negative effects. On this list of illegal drugs are harmful and addictive substances such as cocaine, methamphetamines, and heroin. A substance called cannabis, also known as marijuana, is also on this list. As of now, it is illegal to buy, sell, possess, or use marijuana in any shape or form in the state of Louisiana. However, due to the advancement of technology and of human perspective and innovation, it has come to light that marijuana could actually be of benefit to our society through its medicinal uses in treating a range of conditions and diseases as well as its possible social benefits in helping individuals stray from heavier drugs by acting as a substitute. Now that the wheels of time are turning and that medical marijuana is becoming a budding industry, the question remains: should marijuana be legal all across the United States of America? With the benefits it could bring with its medical, social, and economic uses, marijuana could be a profitable asset to our society if it were to be legalized, and I believe that we should strive for that outcome.
The cannabis plant (marijuana) has been used medicinally by a variety of cultures around the world. It was used as medicine in the United States until when a new tax fee led to its discontinued use. Congress has voted on several bills to legalize the medical use of marijuana; however none of those bills were passed. In June 2005 the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 6-3 that federal laws against marijuana, including its medical use, are valid. The government has authorized few research studies into the health effects of medical marijuana. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not approved
There is a lot of controversial arguments over whether the medical field should fully embrace the use of Medical Marijuana in the treatment of patients. There is evidence based practice that proves Medical Marijuana can help treat patients with signs and symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease, Breast Cancer, Diabetes, Glaucoma, Mesothelioma, Multiple Sclerosis, and Rheumatoid Arthritis. The lists are endless of benefits of how Medical Marijuana helps treat patient’s signs and symptoms. There is also arguments against using Medical Marijuana to treat patients. Arguments against the use of Medical Marijuana include: evidence based practice lack consistency, concerns over side effects, and that it interferes with memory, learning, judgment, and perception.
Marijuana should be legalized all together but, with restraints. This is simply because of the fact that you have a choice in how your life plays out. Just because some people decide to misuse the herb does not mean that you should suffer. Medical marijuana, or medical cannabis should be legalized as a clinical option.
The medical marijuana debate is an interesting one because there’s such a wide diversity of opinions and views that oppose each other. The U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency classifies marijuana as a Schedule 1 drug. They consider these drugs to have no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse and to be some of the most dangerous drugs, because they’re highly addictive and may cause severe psychological or physical dependence. Other Schedule 1 drugs include heroin, LSD, ecstasy and meth. Many who are against marijuana believe the drug is dangerous, harmful and feel it should remain illegal.
There is an intensive debate in society, today, about legalizing marijuana. Supporters of marijuana highlight that legalizing will not increase its consumption, and in fact will provide individuals with a legal choice. Opponents argue that legalizing marijuana will increase consumption, which would expose consumers to health risks as extreme as cancer. I believe marijuana should be legalized by the federal government. It is already being consumed in the society, and legalizing marijuana will facilitate monitoring its growth, usage, and help collect taxes. Marijuana has overwhelming support in the medical field as an alternate medicine. Also, marijuana will provide a legal alternative to individuals who rely on illegal and dangerous drugs, such as cocaine and heroin. Legalization will significantly reduce marijuana trafficking and curtail black market activities. Furthermore, legalizing will divert the cash stream from black markets to the states and the federal government, in the form of taxes. The additional revenue can be used to do additional research on
The topic of my debate was “is it okay for Christians to agree on the legalization of Medical Marijuana?”. I was supposed to debate for the no side which meant that I did not believe that Christians should agree with the legalization of Medical Marijuana. Some of our support for our stance on the topic were the effects of using marijuana and our Biblical reference.
Too often Americans today turn to prescription pills as a cure for the occasional headache to chronic pain, looking for immediate results while overlooking the long list of side effects. What if there was a safer, non-toxic alternative to the standard pharmaceuticals? We should be offered other types of treatment, the option of using medical cannabis. As a result, it can improve a patient's quality of life, and indirectly help to promote positive responses to treatment. While many say the drug has a “high potential for abuse” and should remain illegal, advocate’s present a stronger argument for legalization through the use of evidence and research. Medical marijuana must be legalized for its medicinal properties, its implications to our legal
I am in agreeance with you in supporting the use of medical marijuana. I have read a great deal of research about patients with Parkinson’s Disease and how medical marijuana helps decreases majority of symptoms. Per a recent study published by Clinical Neuropharmacology, many participants who smoked medical cannabis had improvements in motor disability. Tremors, stiffness, and voluntary movements, pain and sleep disturbances were decreased. As a nurse, we are to find different ways through evidence based research to assist in helping our patients the best way possible even if people may be against it. There are also other conditions that medical marijuana can help decrease symptoms but it is still very hard for some patient to gain access.
Healthcare can’t be spelled without T.H.C! For those who don’t know, THC is one of the main chemicals in medical marijuana. Marijuana, when used medically, can reduce anxiety, depression, and nausea, as well as many other uses. It helps strengthen the economy. Addiction is a huge worry, but marijuana used to get people off of crack and meth, so how addictive can it really be? With medical marijuana, the sky's the limit. Medical marijuana has tons of potential in the world of meds, it can get tons of money through taxes, and isn’t as addictive as people believe.
I write to you to deferentially ask for that you support the Legitimate use of Medicinal Marijuana Act, bill number H.R. 2373. This will give authorization to licensed specialists to endorse marijuana as a treatment choice to their severely ill patients. This decision can and will saves a lot of lives, especially our babies and elderly.
of the THC/CBD and the patients could increase their dosage to a maximum of 48 sprays
The legalization for marijuana is one of the most controversial topic in government. I support the legalization for marijuana for medical purposes. While the research for medical marijuana has not yet given enough evidence to support comprehensive legalization, I believe it will have more positives then negatives in peoples lives. Physicians and medical scientist are skeptical about legalization because they are unsure about all the affects of the substance on people. However the research on neurological disorders have shown positive results thus far.
Introduction: Federalism is a system of government that has entities within such as states and provinces that share power with a national government. How would it benefit we the people nationwide to legalize marijuana? Imagine being the mother or father of a child who severely suffers from epilepsy every day you watch your child suffer anywhere from ten to fifteen seizures a day. One day you hear there has been a new development that can stop or even decrease seizures for all who suffer from epilepsy. This medication or remedy is developed through medical marijuana using CBD only and eliminating the “high” THC affect. So, you begin your research to gain opinion and find out if it will work for your child and household.
Imagine you are a mother or father of an epileptic child waking up day after day watching your child suffering with uncontrollable seizures, sometimes over 30 times a day. The physician prescribes more and more medication to help alleviate the seizures to no avail. Or you are a patient suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder where medications only make symptoms worse or does not give and relief. Now visualize a cancer patient undergoing chemotherapy having nausea and nonstop vomiting. The patient is losing weight and has no appetite. The prescriptions given by the physician have no impact on the patient. Wouldn’t you like to have an alternative form of relief? Some patients have found that relief with the use of medical marijuana.
