Just as the institution is eager to continue embracing the ever-changing world of healthcare and medicine, I too embody this same distinguishing characteristic. Throughout my undergraduate experiences I have learned in order to be a steward and servant of the medical profession one must exercise teamwork, service, empathy, accountability, and optimism; all of which coincide with the tenets that are declared by the Meharry Medical College, School of Medicine culture. Attending this medical school would be one of the greatest rewards for my motivation and persistence. I know for certain there would be no greater experience than to be a part of the Meharry Medical College
Picture opening up a box with over 1000 pieces belonging to a jigsaw puzzle, emptying the contents out on to a tabletop, and then being tasked with putting those pieces together to ultimately create a beautiful picture of the human anatomy. One can imagine the eye for detail, patience and thoroughness that would be required to complete such a task. As with any puzzle it is critical that the wider picture is envisioned at all times, as focusing on only one piece would effectively hinder any progress towards completion.
For as long as I can remember, I have always been interested in pursuing a career in the medical field. These interests were most likely brought to life from my desire to want to help people and learn more about the human body. The experiences I’ve had throughout my life have brought me closer to the belief that I can one day make a difference in the world through medicine. All though I am not completely decided on what I would like my future career to be, I have been able to narrow my options down to a few of the many choices available.
The medical field is a career path that brings about many options and opportunities of great value. The noble idea of being a doctor tends to cloud the diligent studying and precise training that is actually required for this career. I have wanted to become a doctor since a very young age, and now that the opportunity is here for the taking, I have fully researched what it takes to succeed in this profession and various specialties of the practice. The road to a medical degree is one filled with thousands of notes, years of schooling, and many stressful nights, but the reward is one incomparable to any other. Saving people’s lives on a day-to-day basis has been one of my dreams for as long as I can remember, so the rigorous curriculum
The discussions, shift rotation and reflections will give me the exposure I will need to make an educated career choice as I continue the journey of medicine. This
I am drawn to family medicine by this same appreciation for humanism that is evident to me among practitioners in this field. I am similarly motivated and excited by the intellectual challenges, scope, and meaningfulness offered by a career in family medicine. I strive to join a residency program that will provide rigorous clinical training among a diverse patient population while offering extensive resident responsibility for patient care. I believe that a family medicine residency program will inspire me to excel and arm me with the tools I need to achieve my future goals. Upon completion of residency, I aim to devote myself to serving the underserved while dedicating time to conducting research and participating in community and medical
The medical field has a wide range of opportunities that many plan to seek. Some, and hopefully a majority, pursue this career in order to better society one healthy solution at a time; however others simply pursue it to exceed parental expectations or to sit in a higher tax bracket. Personally, my reason for pursuing this career, through St Mary’s outstanding program, is altogether unique and abnormal to say the least. Normality never made an impact on the world. I, instead, stray far from the beaten path.
I believe that the medical profession is an important and valuable career field and it is very important to the society. I have been fascinated by the workings of life and the complexity of the human body ever since I was young and this has strengthen my philanthropic approach to life, in that I could be trained to help people get better. This, I consider rewarding. I have hoped to develop excellent skills, such as research, communication, teamwork and problem solving. I believe this program will give me the opportunity to further improve these skills and have great chances at professionalism.
When I think of medicine I think of diversity. The medical field contains a multiplicity of individuals, culture, and exchange; exposure to the Guatemalan culture offers a plethora of experience that allows me to build on personal growth, educational enhancements, and the opportunity to make a difference. The availability of this program through the Jerry M. Wallace School of Osteopathic Medicine is a blessing as well as a prayer answered for the prospect to experience the world beyond the borders of the United Stares.
I am interested in this program because it'll help me career wise and help me with personal growth. After I graduate high school I am planning on following the pre-med track as a major and this program would help me get a sense of what its going to be like as a pre-med student prior to me going to a college or universities, if I join their medical science track. In addition, although I want to study pre-medicine and science I haven't had much opportunities to study the different branches of sciences outside my school's curriculum, which is usual regents based and they only have 1 AP science class, AP environmental science which isn't the field I am interested in. Furthermore, I would like to join the program because they also focus on helping
My passion for medicine is something deeper than a mere interest in learning the extraordinary functions of the human body. I am completely fascinated to learn gross anatomy, histology, pathology, and the complete medical school curriculum. However, I am more captivated by how the knowledge I will gain in medical school will allow me to perform the lifesaving procedures that physicians are able execute. Although, medicine is not always ideally as I have written, I believe that as a physician I would use my knowledge and my experiences to provide the best holistic care to my patients. My culture, my experiences, and my education will bring a different perspective to the medical field. I aspire to have the ability and knowledge to save a child that might not live, to save a woman that suffers a heart stroke, and to even provide the necessary treatment for a child with a mere cold. Additionally, participating in the Loma Linda Gateway to the Health
Having always been fascinated about the human body, medicine has always been a subject that I am most passionate about. From a young age, I was exposed to the medicinal world, where I had witnessed my grandmother who had been diagnosed with secondary breast cancer. At the time, I felt helpless, but when I experienced the work of doctors and healthcare professionals, I was immediately fascinated by their dedication in helping the most important person in my life. From then on, I have wanted to seek the knowledge and skills that I am unable to learn during my A levels, which are required to help make a difference in people's lives. Having a passion for medicine and the human body, I then went on to read a book called 'The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks', which helped me understand the complexity of cancer. I still wanted to
My interest for public health stems from the need to aid numerous people in disease and injury prevention, health protection, and strategies for health promotion. I hope to earn a Master of Public Health with a focus in the area of health care management as well as hospital administration in relation to public health policy development and education. I aspire to develop enhanced intervention policies that can provide the population with direct access to primary health care due to public health preparedness education and strategic planning.
A cheerful heart is a good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones” is a proverb that means always be generous and kind-hearted towards people and this will keep you going in life. I have this impression that my professed love for science will help me broaden my knowledge and understanding of this course. I once unfortunately witnessed a scenario where a young girl was fatally injured and rushed to the hospital but was refused medical attention and later died due to lack of bed space. This undoubtedly aroused a lot of sentiments in me and it inspired me to pick Bio-medical science in order to help people, treat them and make them happy irrespective of ones social status. In addition to this, I get to work with people of different specialties; it’s a safe career path and being a medical doctor gives a lot of reverence and acknowledgement. The
