The autobiographical book Mein Kampf, written by Adolf Hitler, was published shortly after the author's time in prison and was immediately popular among Europe's population. As Hitler's views were introduced to the countries he became an important voice in the media. During Hitler's rise of power his book Mein Kampf was favored because of his political views, the effect of the book, and the book's purpose. The book as a whole according to the preface was to set forth Hitler's aims and beliefs” (Smelser). When Adolf Hitler came onto the scene, he claimed that he would be the best ruler that Germany had ever seen. He claimed that he would revert the country back to its once state of greatness. He would have been one of the greatest rulers of all time if he would not have started the Holocaust. It was not as if the people of Germany had no idea what Hitler was capable of. He wrote down all of the gruesome things he would do to create a pure race if he became a ruler. The Holocaust is a horrible time in human history. The leader of the Nazi party and one responsible for the Holocaust is Adolf Hitler. The book is about children that get stranded on an Island without adults. The children vote for a chief, Ralph. Jack was the competition for Ralph, after Jack lost the race for chief he started his Hunters. He was persuasive and told people what they wanted to hear. Because of this, he was a very successful propaganda artist. Driven by Germany's loss in WWI and humiliation, which was a result of the terms in the treaty of Versailles, Hitler found many followers who sympathized with his cause. After his political group failed an attempt to overpower the Bavarian government, he was arrested and jailed for nine months. While imprisoned, Hitler wrote Mein Kampf (My Struggle), which was his autobiography, and it was full of his political ideas as well as the policies for what would become the Nazi organization. Later, he would use this book to spread his ideas and indoctrinate people into the Nazi party. At one point in time, he tried to destroy all other books in Germany. He required that Mein Kampf be taught in the schools, and children learned at a very young age that they were to be Nazis and support Hitler.
