The goal of this project was to gather baseline information on effective, low-level treatments to reduce Cakile maritima cover in nesting shorebird habitat. Two levels of effort were tested and compared to a control plot where no treatment occurred. A control plot received no treatment, the level 1 plot received monthly treatment and the level 2 plot received bimonthly treatment. Frequency of herbicide application, rather than amount of herbicide, was manipulated in this study. Names. Names surround us, make us who we are and decide who we will become. When parents are faced with the task of naming their children, the task usually falls onto the mother to name the child. In my case, however, my father was the one take up the mantle and name me. As the only son in a family of four children, my father took the task of naming me, and wished to instill pride in the name. He named me Jackson, after his name, Jack. He intended to name me as the “Son of Jack”, but the name Jackson actually refers to God showing favor to his people and bringing grace to those around him. As for a color or various assortment of numbers, I have come to the conclusion that the number most fitting for me is “23”. Why that number fits so well, I can’t really say. I have always liked the number 23, and my birthday is also on the 23rd of October, so I guess it just comes naturally to liking that number. I
