Andrea Yates was born on July 2, 1964 in Houston, Texas. She was the youngest of five children and grew up in a Catholic household. She graduated from Milby High School in 1982. Yates was involved in many extracurricular activities including the swim team and the National Honor Society. Yates had a seemingly typical childhood and life thereafter that. In the small town of Dickinson in Texas, on August 9th 1990, 8-year-old Jennifer Schuett was abducted by Dennis Earl Bradford. After being taken straight from her bed through her bedroom window, Bradford attempted to calm Schuett by reassuring her he was an undercover officer. Bradford then strangled, raped and lacerated Shuett’s neck, leaving her to bleed out in a field. Shuett recalls him asking her “Am I scaring you little girl? Am I scaring you?” Schuett was left helpless and immobile until she was found by children playing a game of tag. Bradford was not identified or arrested for his actions until 19 years later. However, before he could be tried, Bradford committed suicide in his jail cell.

Andrea Yates was a thirty-seven year old mother who committed a terrible crime. As she drowned her five children in the family bathtub, she believed that she was “saving” them. Many horrendous crimes are committed, yet the assailant gets away with the verdict of insanity.

Some people have some very interesting hobbies. Some collect rocks while some travel the world. Others like to hunt or fish. For Little Falls High School student Melissa Anez something so minor like reading brings her so much joy. Anez comes from a family of six she being the second to youngest child. Her favorite subject at the high school is psychology.

“Amanda Clark’s phone conversation came to an abrupt end when her Chevrolet Trailblazer rolled three times before landing on its roof. She had run a stop sign and was broadsided by another driver. Metal caved in around her, but the roof stayed intact and she survived with just scrapes and bruises” (Tracy). Amanda Clark survived her first car accident caused by distracted driving, but wasn’t as lucky the second time. After she started driving again, she pledged to put her phone away and focus on driving. Clark’s Mother, Bonnye Spray, said, “I thought this would be a wakeup call for her, and it was for a short time she wouldn’t talk on the phone, she was more cautious. But she got more confident in her driving and a sense of ‘Hey, I survived one, I’m invincible, nothing is going to happen to me now’” (Tracy). The name of the music singer was Lauren Lark. According to the show program, Lauren brought the bright women music between the 1940’s and 1950’s into the 20th century. Lauren has completed her Bachelor in music performance at the University of the Arts, where she received the desirable Best Jazz vocalist. Lauren was made a history as the only vocalist to perform with the Reginal Grammy Award. She was a librettist and the singer. During the show performance, Lauren has sung so many works by the local and the international women artist. Annika Santos is fifteen and lives in Manchester Hills. She is the middle child; her older sister Erica is sixteen, and her younger brother Sam is seven. The Santos have lived in both McDonna and Atlanta, Georgia, as well as Florida before coming to Michigan. Annika currently attends Forest Hills Central High School as a ninth grade. To say that she is very involved with her school is an understatement.

Everyday a different crime is committed; however, the reason or motive behind it is not always understood. Over the years, theories were developed to explain why certain crime occurs. For example, Andrea Yates was a mother of 5 who drowned her children due to a mental illness she endured, but there are many theories that play a vital role in explaining why she committed this crime. The theories that will be discussed throughout this paper are the Biosocial Trait Theory and the General Strain Theory.

Danielle Williams was born and raised in the city of Omaha, Nebraska. She is the only daughter of Jill and Phil Williams. Growing up Danielle was always a very shy, quiet, kind hearted, nurturing, creative, and imaginative young girl. Being brought up in a modest christian home, Danielle had a set of very strict set of rules she had to follow. Which made having any sort of social life difficult. She was not allowed to participate in any of the normal activities most kids her age were taking part in. There was no attending parties, no going out at night, no dating boys, no wearing makeup, no revealing clothing, no watching R rated movies, and no cellphones. With nothing to do on saturday nights, Danielle would spend most of her time reading
