There are many times in our life that shape who we are, most of these “moments” go unnoticed. Things happen and change us in an instant so we often don’t remember these “moments” simply because they do not come across as something memorable. They just happen. If you’re lucky enough, you can remember this defining moment, and be able to reflect on this moment in a time of need, to remind yourself of the long journey that got you where you are at today.
It seemed like a normal day at the time, the sun was shining, the waves crashed on the shore, steady and reassuring. I did a lot of thinking that day. I thought of my future, of what I wanted to accomplish in life.Only now I realize that it wasn’t a normal day at all. It was the day I decided to graduate early.
However, one passage really stands out to a person who is soon to enter college and start the next phase of their life.
What's so memorable
Life is an accumulation of one’s experiences. It is, in many aspects, similar to a well filled with water. Those who have lived longer, sought knowledge, stayed active, and exploited their advantages have wells that are brimming to the point of overflowing. Others who are still young, lazy, impeded by circumstance, or secluded, tend to have shallow, verging on parched, wells. Before last summer, my well of experiences was leaning towards the latter, but spending time with my family and friends at Niagara Falls, Six Flags, and a Twenty One Pilots concert has deepened my spring considerably.
Driving across the golden gate bridge is a sight to see. Well it is a site o see if you can see through the layers of thick fog and if your car sat up high enough you could see out over the bridge. The air was not freezing, but there was a chill in the breeze that gave me goose bumps. Driving down crooked roads, and eating the sourdough bread instead of the soup inside it are special memories. It was a few days in San Francisco last summer that gave me a love for somewhere other than home.
In addition, another representation of a significant moment that I have experienced is when I fell in love with theater. I never perceived when I first stepped on the campus of parkway middle school of the arts that my life would transition forever. I initially came to the parkway for their preeminent dance department, unfortunately, all dance classes were full; the only department left was theater. With the warm welcomes from my classmates, I soon felt comfortable and confident enough to audition for the school musical "High School Musical". Surprisingly I was chosen for one of the leading roles as Miss Sharpay Evans. Characterizing this leading role was not as effortless as it seemed. The cast spent weeks rehearsing the musical, memorizing the lines, songs, and dances. This was a tedious process. Since this was my first show I grew frustrated; I didn’t become conscious that it was normal occasionally for a show to have a few tough rehearsals. I desired to flee the production because I felt as if I wasn’t benefiting the crisis. My astonishing teacher Mrs. Terl conversed with me and inspired me to grow resilient, instead of feeling afraid I grew fearless even if the show was to fall through I was
Many times, we have memories that we would like to forget, such as an unpleasant or traumatic experience. My memory of my first internship was something that I always tried to forget, along with a lot of other negative experiences in my life. However, now that almost two years have passed, and after reflecting on it time and time again, I began to reclassify that memory as a learning experience rather than a negative experience. In life, we are faced with many obstacles, sometimes on a daily basis. Our society values stories of overcoming life’s obstacles because they are inspiring, interesting and may lead to personal growth.
Upon considering the events and experiences that have been a precursor to my interest in CCU, I am burdened with the decision of expressing a single cumulative moment that bears the most gravity upon myself to this point. Could it be the diligence of a dedicated family that bears the most impact? Could it be the countless teachers, instructors, and counselors that have selflessly invested in me? Is it the economic, political, or geographic tides that have surrounded my existence? Perhaps it falls within the lines of the many passages of books read or entangled in the conversations made by superior minds? Or is it held in the delicate grasps of a fragile moment too unknown to be remembered and too small to be noticed? Could it be that, in a
This essay spoke to me because in life you’re never granted tomorrow. Things can happen to anyone of us that can put us in harm’s way
Memories can last a life time, so we tend to only remember the extraordinary ones. Extraordinary like the essay “The Yellow Ribbon” by Pete Hamill, in which he talks about how a person named Vingo, was riding on a, bus recently released from jail, to this oak tree explaining to some passengers that he had told his wife to leave him if she wanted, since he went to jail or to go to this oak tree and tie a yellow ribbon around it to see if she wants him to stick around and he will go and check it out. In the end, he saw hundreds of ribbons tied on to the tree. Not only is this an amazing story, but also very unforgettable one as well, because he finds out that after four years in jail his wife has enough love for him to go to this tree and tie hundreds of ribbons just to show the type of love the women had for Vingo. I have to say that, I believe this story is truly unforgettable, but I also got a story that is very extraordinary, like the time that I got my very first car. Furthermore, I didn’t just get a car, I got the love of two truly loving parents.
My audience will learn by reading my essay that life is full of amazing things. Life is also full of many obstacles and difficulties that sometimes can make you want to quit. These obstacles aren’t there to make you quit and give up,
The experience that occurs at college must reflect to younger generations that college is not a scary place, and that it is a safe and secure place as if they were at
One of the most exhilarating moments of my entire life was my very first time at a roller coaster theme park. Growing up I would always see commercials on television of children and adults alike having a sparkling Colgate smile on their faces and enjoying themselves, so when my family decided we were going to Islands of Adventure for vacation. I was like a child who just received a cookie out of the cookie jar. Even though I was 21 years old at the time, I was extremely trilled. I packed my luggage like a stuff turkey on Thanksgiving Day and I was ready to take on this adventure.
