What is Memorial Day? Memorial Day is a holiday celebrated the last Monday of May; During Memorial Day, we celebrate those who gave all they had, physically and mentally, for the rights and privileges of this amazing country, which would be nothing without those wonderful citizens. A true meaning of Memorial Day is to honor the doughty departed, the valiant veterans and the stout-hearted soldiers, but that a merely a scratch at the surface.
When people hear the word 'Memorial Day' they either think about barbecuing, beer, partying like Fourth of July, minus fireworks and all, or think about the soldiers who died for the country, for the flag that holds so much promise and mourning for their lost loved ones... But to me, it's a day where I can think about any time when I want to end my life at any given moment to think about those who had died for me, my freedom and my future. There's a lot of meaning to many people on a certain day to honor the fallen warriors who died protecting their nation, yet to me, it's
Is Veteran’s Day important to you? Or is it just another dumb holiday the government wants you to celebrate? Not many people celebrate it, because they think that if you or someone you know isn’t a vet, why should you care, right? Wrong! Even though you think it’s not important, it is. These people don’t know half the people they fight for but they still fight for their freedom. This is a huge thing for them to do because, they go into the service, leave their family, and not even knowing if they’ll ever make it back home. Not only do these people fight for our freedom, but they have also helped shape out our history, &they have made a big impact on our future.
If you want to know anything about memorial day you should first know what it is. Memorial day is celebrated to honor our veterans who lost their lives defending our country. Some may think Memorial Day is about no school, having BBQ’s, and drinking soda. It’s really a day when we remember those who died in the military service. Memorial Day was traditionally celebrated on May 30, but it is now celebrated on the last Monday in May. There are multiple ways in which we can celebrate Memorial Day. For example, watching the beginning of the Indianapolis 500 when veterans march with the flag, going to watch Waterloos’ parade, or simply shooting off fireworks with friends and family.
Cinco de Mayo- or the 5th of May- celebrates the 1862 victory made by the Mexican Army over France at the Battle of Puebla in Mexico during the Franco-Mexican War. The war took place from 1861-1867, and though the victory did not stand for the end of the war, or the final victory it showed the perseverance of the Mexican army. France’s army was known to have more equipment, better officers, and more well-trained soldiers than the Mexican army. The Mexican army had an immense amount of debt to European countries that they could not pay off themselves anytime soon. In response Britain, Spain, and France sent naval forces to Veracruz to collect their money that was owed to them. Though when France sent a massive amount of troops into Mexico it swept through the country quickly, but when the army arrived at Puebla, the Mexican army became triumphant with a surprising victory. Though the pride of the small army did not last long, as the France invaded Mexico City and took victory there. Although the remembrance of an unlikely victory is still recognized every fifth of May to remind everyone that size does not always matter, and sometimes luck will come to you in times of need.
Veterans Day is an important United States holiday for those who served in armed forces. People give honor to the military to remember and pay their respect to the soldiers. They made the risk for their sacrifices for the country. The Bald Eagle, a U.S. national bird symbolizes the strength, freedom, courage, and immortality. The symbolization was an appropriate choice by the Founding Fathers on June 20, 1782, as the emblem of the nation, for its majestic beauty, strength, long life, and proud independence. Also, it is believed that the Bald Eagle exist only on this continent of North America.
With Memorial Day weekend behind us, summer is authoritatively here. It's an ideal opportunity to grasp the warm climate and laid back state of mind of the season, particularly with regards to what we wear. There's a touch of an implicit tenet that—except for specific working environments and formal occasions like summer weddings—summer dressing is more laid back than whatever is left of the year.

Think about if you were or are a soldier, pilot, naval officer, paratrooper, marine, navy seal, or Green Beret. You gave your freedom to fight for others! And that's what matters. It’s not just the soldiers in the military today, we should be thankful for everyone who has served our country. It’s not just the soldiers but what about the mechanics in the Air Force that make the planes possible? Consider who drives the tanks and humvees and also the Intelligence group.
