A Game to Remember Family is the most important thing to me. They are always going to be there for you when no one else is. Unless tragedy strikes and turns your whole world around. Every year for Memorial Day my family gets together and has a big picnic and we go to a parade in Pecatonica, Illinois. This is where most of us grew up so it just felt like going home whenever we went. My sister and I got put into Foster Care at the age of two. We rarely got to see our mother and a lot of other family members, so days like this were very exciting because we got to see everyone. This filled me up with excitement.
Memorial Day of 2012 was the one that stands out the most, and I did not even get to spend it with family. I had a baseball tournament

We started off really strong and the score was 0-0 through the first two innings. Before I even got the chance to go bat, I heard my phone start to ring in my bag. I was not up for two more batters so I answered it. It was my sister and when she answered the phone she was crying. That’s when all of the thoughts started to run through my head because I knew instantly something was wrong. The first thoughts that went through my head was my great grandma or grandpa got hurt because they were the oldest and that’s who we lived with. I was trying to figure out what was wrong with her, but she could not stop crying enough to even talk to me. My emotions at this point are all over the place and I could not think straight. She then hand the phone to my great grandma so she could talk to me. I asked her what was wrong and all she said was, “ Something bad happened in the family, we all love you and we want you to do good today so focus on baseball and do good.” And all I heard was the dial tone at the other end of the phone. The silence just made me keep thinking of the worst possible situations. The screams from my teammates telling me that I am next to bat brought me back from my thoughts and I did what she told me to do and focused on baseball. It was time for my first at bat and I was shaking with fear, but what happened next, no one in the stadium
I walked up to home plate nervous because my grandfather was in the stands watching for the first time, but I took a deep breath, tightened my grip on the bat, and stepped into the batter’s box. The pitcher looked at me and smiled he had to think I was going to be easy, but I wasn’t going to give in without fight. He took a quick glance at the runner on second, and boom the fast ball came in so fast I didn’t even know he threw it. Now I was shaking. The pitcher had the upper hand, but I looked at my dad who with his eyes said to me “you can do this” so once again I took a deep breath, tightened my grip, and stepped back into the batter’s box. The pitcher throws the ball hard as I load up and swing hard, but the ball curves
Before any enormous list of physical things that are significant to me on this earth, the most important thing to me is my family and friends. Each and everyday, I want to remind the people in my life how much I love them every chance I get. It is important to me that they know how special they are to me. I have been blessed to have some extremely amazing people in my life. I want to cherish them and relish in every moment I have with them.
#2. Growing up, my family has always been the most important thing to me. I enjoy being home, visiting my grandparents, and going to church. I believe love and family is so important in life, especially seeing it growing up. I cherish watching my parents love each other on vacation or simply at home.
Losing my mother, the most important person to me , was a life changing event that altered the way I see the world. Knowing that she is in a better place and at peace is everything I could've wanted for my mother. As me and my siblings grow older we miss her more every day. I have learned never to take someone for granted because we aren't promised forever with them. We have to make the most of who and what we
Then we ran out of the tunnel and I was all hyped and then we ran over to the dugout and got ready then we went on the field and started to stretch. And our pitcher was in the pitching bow warming up his arm. And finally we started to play the game we were up first to bat. And I was batting fourth on the team which means I am clean up hitter in baseball. The first batter on the team Reed walked and the second grounded out to shortstop and reed was out at second but tevon was safe at first. Our third batter Austin hit a single to move up the batter into scoring position. Then I came up and I was so nervous I had the butterflies in my stomach.
I told myself, "come on Lina you can do it," next thing I knew it was two strikes and three balls. it's now or never Lina strike three the ball was over the fence and into the street but it was as if it turned around and headed right for me I put my glove up and felt something hard hit my hand I caught the ball but it was already too late the girl already hit a grand slam(she got four people in including herself)my eyes started burning I tried to hold them back some very strange back but I felt something sliding down my cheek I ran into the dugout and I could not stop my feet. I got to my mom I held her like there was no going back, all I felt was a warm body hugging me. I slowly looked up and cried "I don't want to play I disappointed my hole team."
Then in the fourth inning we scored one more run making it five to three going into the bottom of the fourth at this point I was beyond scared because the coach told me to be ready to pitch. In the bottom of the fourth inning they scored one more run making it five to four we did not score in the top of the fifth and in the bottom of the fifth West Central got their first two batters on base. The coach walked on to the mound and motioned to me that I was going to pitch. I was very scared; all I was trying to do was throw strikes which I did, we got out of the inning without them scoring. Then the bottom of the sixth came where again their first two batters got on base, I thought I am going to lose the state championship for my team, but somehow I struck out next three batters. When the bottom of the seventh came and we were still ahead, I knew that we were going to win I was not scared at all anymore. I got the first three batters out to win the championship the team’s first ever state championship.
As we started from the top of our batting list, we felt confident with strongest hitters leading us off. I felt as if the situation was out of my hands as I was sixth on the list. One by one our players take the step of courage to the batters box knowing this is our time. With the pride came the weight of a thousand pounds weighing you down. First guy stuck out swinging. Second got s base hit followed by the third. And forth. Before I knew it I was getting warmed up as the guy ahead of me stepped to the bag. My heart starting racing when he hit a pop fly right to center field. And wouldn’t you guess, it was
Running back and forth on and off the field, trying to score as many runs as each side could when batting. Then when it came to defense, we tried our best to not let the Braves score any runs. Around the top of the fourth inning is when it all started. I was up to bat. The first pitch came in, I swung the bat and the ball escalated into the air, landing out by the fence in the right center gap. I was running as fast as I could to at least get to second base. I slid into the bag and the umpire yelled, “Safe!” I was super excited and my adrenaline was pumping like no other. I was so anxious to score it was unreal. Now there was one out, I’m still on second base. Cora Blume is up to bat, and kills a line drive into the left center gap. When a line drive is hit usually you get off halfway or at least enough where if they drop the ball you can make it to the next base, or you can get back if they catch it. Next thing I know the girl makes an
Some people just think softball is as simple as someone swinging a stick, hitting a ball, and trying to get back to where they started. They don’t see what softball really means to someone like me. Someone who has dedicated their life just to be able to play on that field at a certain level. Someone who wants to go to college and play the sport that they love. Well, I play softball because of the love I have for the sport.
We practiced everyday nonstop and won game after game. We became infamous to the other teams for our ability to decimate our competition. Everything was going well until the semifinals when I was called up to bat. I never had to bat in any of the previous games because there was a turnover before I even had a chance to bat. I was completely dumbfounded, I double checked with the coach to make sure I was truly next, I then asked the batting coach and he said the same. I nervously put on my gloves and helmet as I watched the previous player who had stuck out come back to the dugout with his head down. It was the last inning and there were players on first, second, and third. A tied game between us and the White Sox. I slowly dragged myself to home plate and stood there. I raised the bat behind my head and held it firmly just as my batting coach said. I concentraded my breathing as sweat began to collect on my fore head. We had two outs and all I had to do was tap the ball and we would go on to the finals and then glory. The pitcher gazed took a deep breath and paused. Then in a blink of an eye he
I really didn’t want to bat because I was not good at battings at the time. I could hit the ball if I was having a really good day. I still didn’t want to bat but as soon as I got up to the plate I knew that I was ready to play some ball. As soon as the ball hit the bat I could hear a ding from the ball and bat. once I got done I was running my butt off to first base. But all I could hear was my grandma yelling her butt off for me to get to base. Right as I got to first base I knew that I could not get out because if I
We should always keep honoring our veterans because they are braver than anyone else in the world. On Veterans Day or Remembrance Day as some people say we should celebrate it as one of the best holidays because no one else has had the guts to do all veterans did. They fought harder than anyone else, they worked harder than anyone else, and they are braver than anyone else. We should be respectful to every veteran. If you ever see someone that you know is a veteran then you should thank them. They should be remembered forever for what they did. I am glad that when they moved the holiday, the people did not like it and it was moved back to the right day. I think it just seems more respectful to have it on the right day. Veterans day
Family means the world to me in every aspect, but a person that means even more then that is my sister, Jordan. She paved my life for me without me knowing; she is always there for me and believes in me when I do not believe in myself. Jordan and I very similar in the way that if we had the chance to do everything together we would take every opportunity we could get. How our relationship developed was like every pair of young sisters, we did not get along very well when we were younger because we took the days we had together for granted. The day she left for college is when it really hit me that she was the biggest inspiration in my life. What made us as close was going through our parent’s divorce, it was a life changing experience, and I would have never gotten
