Millions of people hit the road during Memorial Day weekend. Safety is the most important thing that you have to keep in mind as you travel to your destination. Below is a list of tips that will help you stay safe this holiday weekend:
Get A Tune-Up
It is always a good idea to make sure that your car is in good working order before a road trip. Your air conditioner, belts, battery, fluid, tires and battery will need to be inspected by a mechanic before you go on a road trip.
Rest Up
If you will be the one who is driving, then it is very important to rest up before you go on the road trip. It is estimated that 100,000 car accidents are caused by sleepy drivers. You should only drive if you have gotten the proper amount of sleep. If other
In life, humanity has evolved over time. Present day, humans sit in these massive countries with pleasant houses and have less hassle opposed to many generations ago. Over time, humanity has convicted the most beautiful and the worst events in history. One of the worst- the Palmer Raids, how it signified to be the worst assault on civil liberties in United States History. What is Memorial Day? It is an important day in which we remember all the lives that were lost of people who were in the armed forces.
There’s nothing quite like the summertime. For a lot of us the 4th of July is the highlight of the summer. Friends, family, food and fireworks can equal epic memories. Although we may be having the time of our lives, our pets do not always feel the same. In fact sometimes they can be downright terrified throughout the whole night.
The date is May 30th, 2016; Memorial Day. I, along with some of my friends, are participating in a scavenger hunt that has lead us to the cemetery in our hometown. After finding the item hidden in the maze of gravesites, I cannot help but notice that the two flags next to the military memorial stone are in disarray. Immediately, I run to the flags and begin to fix them on their thin wooden rods, slowly but surely returning them back to the state of honor they once were in. After I finish, I stand back to look at the small flags flapping in the wind and I cannot help but feel pride in the country I am so lucky to call home.
Men and women all around the world put their life on the line just to make sure our country is safe. Memorial Day is the one time throughout the year when we honor veterans who died for us. When I think about all the sacrifices that veterans have made for us, I feel we all have to appreciate them more than we do. Memorial Day means a lot of things but to me it is a day which we honor all of the people who passed away while serving. They should be remembered for their good service because they kept us safe.
For a college student, there’s no feeling quite like the joy of heading home for Thanksgiving break (1-Archetypes). Sure, Christmas break is longer and definitely has more presents, but Thanksgiving break is at just the perfect time in the middle of the semester; right before the chaos of finals and right when the agony of missing home is starting to become unbearable. I definitely felt this way during my first semester away from home. The days leading up to the break were full of exciting jitters and anticipation. Finally, just a day before classes officially let out for the break, my mom and brother pulled up to my dorm after their nine-hour drive to Alpine, Texas, ready to pack me up and haul me back to Houston.
The Kim’s family story about their Thanksgiving trip during winter weather was truly tragic. They made a decision to take a road trip under harsh weather conditions with limited amount of food and gas. They missed their exit, and decided to take an unknown, dangerous route where they got stuck for nine days. In my opinion, the moral of the story is to plan and prepare for a road trip especially under inclement weather. It’s essential to carry an emergency kit, extra food, water, and clothing in case one gets stuck due to poor road conditions. Prior to starting a road trip, it’s important to know about the weather conditions and travel advisories on the area. Family members should know the route of the planned trip. The vehicle must have a full tank of gas, and be in good mechanical condition to withstand a road trip under harsh weather. Most importantly, we should pay attention to warning signs such as fatigue, fuel levels and bad road conditions to stop, and reconvene the trip when it’s safe to travel to our final destination.
Once you've got all the essentials together - an emergency road kit, a car protected with online car insurance, and of course, some great company - it's time to hit the road. Here are some awesome hacks for making the most of your trip:
This is usually done by families with infuriating small children that whine about being hungry or having to use the restroom for the fifth time in approximately one hour. The most common road trips would be driving through all fifty states, visiting each national park, driving from coast to coast or along one coast. To cope with the amount of driving required for this type of vacation, families will often stay at a hotel for the night after a day's worth of driving. If done by a group of friends with no responsibility of youngsters, driving non stop throughout the night is typically done by switching drivers every three hours or so.
For the last five years and counting, Monterey, California, has increasingly become a hot spot to visit during Memorial Day Weekend. Besides the great weather and beautiful sights along the coast, the area’s biggest attraction for the long weekend is now known as the California Roots Music and Arts Festival. Today, announcements were made for the first wave of roots-rock-reggae artists to be featured at the 6th annual event.
Another reason why I love road trips so much is because it’s literally the best way to catch up on any sleep you've missed out on, eventually when my family runs out of energy from screaming at the top of their lungs for hours, everyones tired and ready for a good nap. I cannot stress how much I love napping in the car, neck pillow underneath your head, the AC lightly hitting your face, curled up into a ball as the comforting movement of the car slowly puts you to sleep. I think a lot of people miss this part of a road trip which is very important, because their eyes are always glued to a screen. The scenery. Canada and America (the places we usually drive to) are both such incredible and diverse places with such magnificent scenery. There are so many beautiful sites like all the lakes and roads that go through forests and all the pretty skies you

The most important thing for anyone going on a road journey is to keep themselves hydrated. It is best to have a lot of water and fruit juices, so as to drink them regularly to remain hydrated. The water bottles, jugs and cool drinks can be filled up and replaced when the person stops for gas or rest. It is best to take an ice-pack containing perishable food items which can be kept cool to increase their shelf life. It is advisable to take with you a big bag of non-perishable snacks, paper napkins, wet wipes, plastic utensils and couple of garbage bags to keep trash in and throw out at regular intervals in the trash bins.
