Men’s Soccer Defeats Conference Rival UNE, 2-1 The Men’s soccer team captured their second conference victory of the season on Saturday, defeating the University of New England 2-1. Heading into today’s matchup, Curry had posted an ugly 1-3-1 record against their CCC counterparts. Coming off a hard fought battle against Lasell College on Monday, Curry was looking to create their first winning streak of the season this weekend. The University of New England entered this game with a 2-8 record on the season, and an 0-3-1 record in conference play. With both teams fighting to get their season back on track, the amount of intensity throughout the game was bound to be sky high. They would outshoot their opponents 8-1 through the first 45 minutes. The University of New England failed to become distraught during their struggles in this one, doing whatever they could do to prevent the ball from ending up in the back of their net once again. A combination of headers and blocked shots by the Nor’easters kept the score knotted at two heading into halftime, even though the matchup had felt much more one-sided. After a strong first half, it seemed crucial that Curry coach Pete Mendel would keep his players focus at a maximum. The last issue this team needed was to coast in the upcoming half, and let their opponents find a way to get back in this one. The second half would get underway, and it was obvious Curry had one goal in mind. They were going to hold onto the ball as much as possible, and do their best to not let the other side find a way to create some energy. There was no longer a constant flow of aggressive play for the Colonels, and it definitely took a few minutes for the entire team to get comfortable with this new playstyle. Both teams were struggling to get up and down the field, and as time went along, the Nor’easters began to show some

Both teams experienced and overcame adversity on their way to becoming champs. Just two weeks ago, the men’s team played in a tune-up, or preseason, tournament, winning all their early games only to end up losing two games in a row to Lakenheath, ultimately losing the tune-up.
On Sunday, October 2nd, 2016, the Akron Zips women’s soccer team hosted the Bowling Green State University Falcons in a very physical conference match. The Zips had an overall record of 3-6-2 while in the MAC there record was 0-1-2. The Bowling Green Falcons were the favorites to win this match because of their overall record of 6-5-0 and in the MAC there standing was 1-2-0. In order to win the game the Zips had to find a way to shut down the Falcons offense.
”We’ve turned into this team that looks like gangbusters in the fourth quarter, but does not look like gangbusters in the first quarter. It’s a four-quarter game. We’ve got to start faster. That’s something as a coaching staff we’ve got to get figured out.” said Coach Koetter.
"The way we were playing to start the second half, we had careless turnovers, we were very tentative, very unlike the way we played to start the game," Miami coach Jim Larranaga said. "And as they began to whittle down the lead, instead of getting tougher-minded and fighting harder, we tended to let up."
At this point, the wheels came off of the Panthers wagon and GSU scored 16 unanswered points. GSU got things going and the momentum changed in their favor. Kincade connected with Chad Williams on a 13 yard passed to make the score 16-7 with PAT by Jonathon Wallace with 2:42 in the first quarter. At this point, both teams were going back and forth. Several turnovers occurred. Until, Kincade and GSU got their groove on with an 11 yard run for pay dirt. Jonathon Wallace successfully completed the PAT to make the score 16-14 in favor of PVAMU at the 10:39 in the second quarter. GSU would score again before the half when PVAMU’s Lorin Winston couldn’t handle a high snap and push the ball out of the back of the end zone for a safety. That tied the score at 16-16 all with 2:00 minutes left in the half.

“I thought our intensity the first game was a little lacking, when you don’t have that natural rivalry you don’t come in as intense and focused as you should,” Hamilton’s coach Vanis said. “We just have to come in and be ready to play even if we don’t play an opponent often we only play Mountain Ridge once a year maybe.”
The Ripon Christian Knights would ride past the Huskies at the end of the first quarter up by 20-8.But the Hughson Huskies would find a way to close the gap as Ripon Christian would be up by only three points at the end of the second quarter making the score 31-28 with Ripon Christian up.

The result of the game was Ames beating Dowling catholic by a 23 point margin sending us to the state.
“This team found a way again to pull off a big win,” said LETU head women’s basketball coach Leslie Reinecker. “We knew it was going to be a battle for 40 minutes and we found a way to play through the adversities to finish down the stretch. We focused all week on doing the little things and we did those when it mattered. We fought hard and our players made plays at the end.”
We came into the game knowing we needed to win because if we lost we would be going home and we didn't want that. The nerves were high in the locker room, we needed to stay calm and play with Confidence. It was a back and forth game until the 3rd period when it was tied 5-5 and we were going into over time. Over time is a sudden death period, when someone scores to break the tie they win and the game is over. If you were the won to score and break the tie everyone seemed to like you more. If you lost, it was the worst feeling ever. That's what happened, we lost against Virginia 5-6. The team we couldn't seem to have ever beat during the regular
