I than knew I wanted to start my own Non-profit Organization for teenage mothers and fathers. My non-profit would be a resources center, safe haven, and child care because those are the three main cores that teenage parents are worried

I am applying to your Masters of Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. I have earned my undergraduate degree in Biblical Studies from Mount Vernon Nazarene University. During my time earning my undergraduate degree I also minored in psychology. I am motivated to earn this degree because of the experiences that I have had while growing up in a home with a workaholic father and a bed ridden mother. This childhood has inspired me to work with those who are struggling emotionally and are in need of guidance and assistance.

I feel that I would gain the most and also be most passionate about the mental health challenge. For a long time the functions and processes of the human mind have fascinated me as I have learned about them not only in the classroom but from first hand experience. Psychology was my favorite course that I took in high school and although it is known to be difficult, I did not struggle with it because it is easy to learn something that captures your interest so deeply. And personally, since I was young I have struggled with and worked through clinical depression, working with therapists and psychiatrists to understand the inner workings of my own mind, and I learned how to cope with and overcome my own mental disorder. Learning about other disorders
When I was growing up, I wanted to make a difference in the world by helping people who were less fortunate. I spent a lot of time volunteering at Stamford Hospital and raising money for my community through my local church. Somewhere along the line, though, I lost sight of my childhood ambitions and began to pursue a lucrative career in business for the prestige, competition, and money. I graduated from Temple University with a Bachelors of Business Administration in January 2014 and a week later, I began working for Liberty Mutual, a Fortune 100 insurance company. In reality, though, I had no passion for insurance. I felt the work was devoid of meaning, but most importantly, I was not being fulfilled as a person. After six months, I realized that no matter how far I climbed the proverbial corporate ladder, I would never reach happiness in this career. I handed in my two weeks notice and purchased a one-way ticket to Europe. This is my story of how I rediscovered my passion for helping others and developed an interest in social work.
I am a young woman of Vietnamese heritage; born and raised as a resident in the United States since birth. I graduated from San Jose State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in the Health Science field with a minor in Psychology. Though I have completed my undergraduate studies, I feel that my academic path is not yet complete in that there is more I can contribute to the field of social work, given further guidance and education. Through both my obstacles and accomplishments, I see that with further education combined with my drive and determination to help families and children achieve stability, I can contribute further and create a lasting impact not only towards my community, but in a macro sense, change the world for the better.
Consequently, I hope to find out where I fit in as a social worker before I pursue my master’s degree. My ideal future career
While homeless, I had a friend that made a positive impact in my life. He was the oldest sibling of three and relied on an unstable parent with drug addiction issues. My friend was unable to attend school because his siblings were not old enough to take care of themselves. His only foreseeable option was to earn money illegally. This lifestyle caused him to be a repeat offender the juvenile system. Ultimately, his mother passed from an overdose and his siblings were sent to foster care. Unfortunately, he was killed at the early age of sixteen, not even being able to experience a full life. I am confident that if he knew there were resources available, in order to help himself and his family, he would have made the changes that would have saved his life. The events of my friend’s life and the sad outcome
