As I sit down to write my final reflection, I think about the Mercy Core Values here at Georgian Court University and what I have gained during this course. I would like to think that I have been taught the value of respect and integrity during my up bring from my parents, family, teachers and co-workers and the teachings here at GCU have given me a better outlook and understanding on how important respect and integrity are in the world we live in. To me respect is to have an understanding in ones beliefs even if you don’t agree, basically not judging someone on their personal beliefs or actions. Having an understanding as to why they do or say is respect. My understanding of integrity is to “be you”, be honest and standup for your actions and your beliefs. Do the right thing opposed to the wrong thing. As a person everyone has a level of respect and/or integrity. It’s a matter of whether the person truly knows the meaning of it and uses them in the right way. During this course, I have read a lot of interesting readings, the ones that standout the most to me are Fredrick Douglass, Malala Yousafzai, and Sister Cathrine McAuley. They are all fine examples of people I have learn more about respect and integrity for after reading their stories. There stories show how important the Mercy Core Values are here at Georgian Court University. I believe anyone who …show more content…
As a person everyone has a level of respect and or integrity. It’s a matter of whether the person truly knows the meaning of it and uses it to live their lives with compassion and respect to everyone. I was always brought up to respect others as you want them to respect you. Words to live by as my grandmother would say. GCU thrives on respect to all people as gifts of God and to work together as one community. I hope to really see this
In my everyday life, I exemplify integrity by consistently following my moral or ethical convictions and doing the right thing in all circumstances. To me, having integrity means that I am are true to myself and would do nothing that demeans or dishonors me. I keep your promises even if it takes extra effort. I work when I am supposed to and save socializing, snacking, searching the Internet and personal phone calls for break time. I show respect to coworkers with appropriate conversation and empathy. I am responsible, and I do what I say I will do.
Integrity is when you do the right thing, even when nobody's watching. “You working with a group cutting bushes in the woods when two of the men started to argue Joe looked up and saw the guy slapping angrily toward each other both raising their axes, and without thinking Joe jumped between the men ‘you give me your axe’ he demanded of one, then he turned to the other ‘and you give me your axe’. Joe took the axes and the fight was over.” (131) Joe showed integrity in that situation because he did the right thing, even if it meant potentially putting himself in danger, even when no one was watching.
Respect is holding something or someone in high regard. Respect has an impact on all aspects of my life, both personally and professionally. As a personal value, respect is twofold; I must respect everyone around me as well as respecting myself. I will demonstrate respect for others by treating everyone equally and without judgement. I will listen and be considerate of the opinions and values of others, regardless of conflicting opinions. I will respect myself by dressing modestly and not objectifying myself as a woman. I will not engage in any unethical behaviour that may compromise my personal morals and values.
First, My personal experience dealing with respect and integrity isn’t really hard. For example with authority in in school its showing integrity when they ask you to do something you have to do it with them looking or not. Then showing respect in class treating the teacher your classmates is crucial to have a good experience. Integrity and Respect have to be applied in school office or home actually anywhere.
Holding onto integrity has become a challenge because we are living in a world that has normalized deception and lying to get through life. People have become so caught up in creating an image of themselves to best satisfy other to the point where they have disregarded the value of integrity and compromised its importance. We must begin to live a well- balanced and harmonious life in order to achieve our best selves. Integrity develops through people living their lives with a belief system that best reflects their morals. It is about us reaching our potential as human beings and taking pride in who we are as individuals. It is even about the way we deal with people in having empathy and understanding for their struggles and how well we are
Integrity is having a strong moral compass and knowing where your place in the world is.
Integrity can be defined as "an uncompromising adherence to a code of moral, artistic or other values, utter sincerity, honesty and candor, avoidance of deception, expediency, artificiality or shallowness of any kind" (Webster's 3rd New International Dictionary 1174). In simpler words this means to maintain high standards and follow the rules, even when no one is watching. Integrity is very important in our everyday life if we wish to be good people. The sad thing is that if you ask some people what integrity means to them they will probably tell you that it doesn't mean much and some may not even know what integrity is. Certain people feel that in order to get ahead in life they need to break certain rules. It is
Integrity is having a standard of morals and ethics, and living by them. It is a willingness and ability to do the right thing even when it is hard. The story To Kill a Mockingbird is filled with integrity. For example, many of the people in Maycomb share a prejudiced sense of integrity when it comes to its racist views. However, it is Atticus Finch’s integrity throughout the novel that really embodies the idea of moral and ethical principles. He puts into action every moral idea that he supports. Atticus is a role model to not only his children, but to the whole town of Maycomb, and his integrity is a great part of what makes him such a good example. Integrity
C.S. Lewis defined integrity as doing the right thing when no one is looking. That has been one of my greatest lessons as a professional and as a small business owner.
A person of integrity does exactly what he says and says exactly what he means. There is no conflict between his thoughts and actions. His actions are consistent with the values he professes. According to Dr. William Manninger, A building without integrity may receive structural damage, or even collapse, in a storm. Similarly, people without integrity are blown about by the winds of misfortune and destroyed by catastrophes, for they lack the firmness, solidity, and strength of character to weather any storm. This means that integrity is one of the six essential qualities that are the key to success.
A person with integrity is humble – He is more concerned about what is right than about being right. He recognizes principle and puts it ahead of self.
Second, I highly value integrity. Integrity is defined as “a concept of consistency of actions, values, methods, measures, principles, expectations, and outcomes. In ethics, integrity is regarded as the honesty and truthfulness or accuracy of one’s actions.” It generally means not intentionally harming others, not stealing from, not cheating, or being fair to, others. I value integrity because it manifests a person’s inner strength, honor, kindness, and geniuses of one’s soul. According to Kantian moral perspective whether an action is morally good or not depends primarily in the intentions of the agent performing the
Integrity is how somebody lives their life. In this life we live, we face choices every day that only we can answer. We dictate how we run our own lives, and they way we run them defines us. Integrity is doing the right thing versus the wrong thing. People, if nothing else, can always have their pride, their integrity. It is something that means a lot to some people and then nothing to others. The ones who value their integrity highly are the good people in this world, and the opposite is true for those who do not value their integrity.
It requires you to be candid and sincere with your peers, subordinates, and superiors. Integrity calls upon you to be honest and honorable in word and deed at all times. Integrity means doing the right thing even if there is no one watching. To have integrity a person must have the ability to distinguish the difference between right and wrong, so that when a controversial issue arises the right and honorable thing will be done. It is an important role in the values because if one does not have integrity they cannot be trusted on in a time of need or when you are working side by side with them in every day work. What they say cannot be taken on word alone. I usually take my integrity very seriously, and it makes me sick to think that I gave that up for something so stupid. We must have integrity because if we don’t we are untrustworthy and unreliable. These are 2 things I never want associated with my name.
Integrity, as we all may know,is not a joke. Something many people take very seriously. I would hope you all would know the definition of integrity, if not I guess it would be helpful to tell you. Integrity in the internet's perspective is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness, the state of being whole and undivided. In my Perspective Integrity is being able to be honest and true, to not just yourself but everyone that's in your surroundings as well. There is another version of integrity and that is self-Integrity which is known as the process of knowing your self, a process of self-sought but never completed. Honesty is the state imposed by others, which is somewhat connected to self-integrity. Integrity is how a person will live their life however they please. In this crazy thing we call life, we tend to face many choices every single day that not only can we personally answer but everyone can answer as well. Integrity is doing the right thing versus the wrong thing, and I am not saying that any of the definitions are incorrect, but what I am portraying is that everybody's definition is different, and will always be different.
