Throughout my time in Messiah College's Teacher Education Program, my beliefs, values, and knowledge of education have been challenged, reflected upon, and changed. Another way to state the latter is that my philosophy on education has been shaped by the experiences I have had within the education system at Messiah College along with surrounding school districts. The way in which teachers design curriculum and instruction have a direct correlation to the individual's philosophies of education. Having a philosophy provides teachers "with framework for broad issues and tasks, such as determining the goals of education, subject content and it organization, the process of teaching and learning, and, in general, what experiences and activities to stress in schools and classrooms" (Ornstein, 1991, p. 102). In this paper, I will be discussing my philosophy on educational values I have been exposed to, and believe are significant for student achievement. This will answer what I believe should be taught in terms of values, why these values should be learned by the students, and how I will manage to teach these values to the students. As a student of education, I have been able to gather many ideas and opinions about practices and ideals I want to implement in my future classroom. My philosophies about education are still being formed and continually change with every class I visit and with every educator I encounter. My ideas, admittedly, come from random experiences and intangible texts, but as I gain more experience in the field through my courses, my philosophies about teaching will become more clearly defined. These few ideas I have now will undoubtedly be added upon as I enter student teaching and my professional career, nevertheless, they are concepts of which I hope to never lose sight.
Facilitating a foundation in academic or philosophical pedagogy can help form a path for the educator, a path to better understanding teaching, education, learning and learners. Often, most of the programs designed for learners and the curriculum is often derived from theories. Understanding theories can help guide a teacher through their education journey. Sometimes, teachers may struggle with classroom organisation or implementing the curriculum in a considerate, all-encompassing and engaging way, especially if you are a CRT or Graduate Teacher - and often these concepts can help inspire and encourage teachers. To be an empowered teacher means your classroom and students will be empowered learners, and that is the best type of learning. My personal philosophy of curriculum encompasses a multitude of different curriculum beliefs and elements. My philosophy will include beliefs from both the Scholar Academic Ideology and the Social Reconstruction Ideology. My goal of education is to create students who become lifelong learners, that create the necessary changes in themselves and their communities, to better the world around them. Students should consistently develop their critical thinking skills, to promote creative solutions to intricate challenges. As can be expected, teachers and learners possess vital positions in my philosophy of curriculum.

According to Nieto, "Schools must take a serious look at their curriculum, pedagogy, retention and tracking policies, testing, hiring practices, and all the other policies and practices that create a school climate that is either empowering or disempowering for those who work and learn there"(Nieto,1996). The curriculum should be integrated, interdisciplinary, meaningful, and student-centered. Also, it should include issues and topics related to the students' background and culture. Moreover, it should challenge the students to develop higher-order knowledge and skills.
Aristotle once said, “The one exclusive sign of thorough knowledge is the power of teaching.” Teaching enables students to gain the intelligence needed to excel in life. I believe that a teacher’s philosophy of education is a crucial role in his or her approach to leading students on their educated path. A philosophy of education is the set of beliefs that every school and every teacher stand behind. The certain philosophy that one chooses provides the answers to many vital questions, such as the purpose of schooling, a teacher’s role, and what should be taught in the classroom.
The last vector involves the development of integrity, which is the ability for students to personalize values and apply it to their lives. Incoming freshmen will enter college with their own set of values and beliefs; however, these values may be challenged by other students, especially since college is comprised of a greater student diversity. Our values and beliefs provide a foundation for interpreting experience, guiding behavior, and maintaining self-respect. Therefore, it is important for students to assemble and practice values that are consistent with their own beliefs. There are three stages in this vector that occur in a chronological order; however, they may overlap with one another.

Some administrators are able to adapt their personal philosophies to continue the growth of their students’ academic achievement. Obtaining an education throughout life is vital for not only personal success, but also for success in our society and in our country. Education even goes beyond the classroom, and it is important for every student to gain knowledge about life. In my future classroom, I plan to focus on individual student education by promoting positive learning, demonstrating enthusiasm, and helping the students to develop lifelong skills to form relationships.
