METHODOLOGY
Methodology of research indicates the general pattern for organizing the procedure for the empirical study together with the method of obtaining valid and reliable data for problem under investigation.70
Research methods refer to the technique used to structure a study and to gather and analyze information in a systematic fashion.37
Research methods involves the steps, procedures and strategies for gathering and analyzing data in a study.37
The present study aimed at assessing the effectiveness of Planned Teaching Programme on knowledge regarding management of selected obstetric emergencies among the Final Year GNM Students of selected school of Nursing, Belgaum, Karnataka.
This chapter deals with the different steps that were undertaken by the investigator for gathering and analyzing the data. The various steps involved in this study are as follows:
1. Research approach
2. Research design
3. Research setting
4. Variables
5. Population.
6. Sample and sampling technique
7. Description of the tool
8. Validity and reliability of the tool
9. Pilot study
10. Procedure for data collection
11. Collection and plan for data analysis.
Research approach:
Research approaches indicate the procedures for conducting the study.71
An evaluative approach was adopted in this study as the researcher implemented an intervention in order to achieve the research objectives.
Evaluative research is the process of collecting and analyzing information relating to
nature of the research approach calls for a means of data collection and analysis of findings
Research can be defined as the search for knowledge, or as any systematic investigation, with an open mind, to establish novel facts, solve new or existing problems, prove new ideas, or develop new theories. Research can be divided into different steps in order to understand the whole process more in depth. The first step towards conducting research is to observe. Consistst of the subject area of ones interest and following that subject area to conduct subject related research. The subject area should not be randomly chosen since it requires reading a vast amount of
Research methods are “the various specific tools or ways data can be collected and analysed, e.g. a questionnaire, interview, etc.” (Neville, C, 2007).
Data collection methods- the researcher needs to pick how the information for this subject can be collected (observation, questionnaires, interviews) and so forth. Analysis and presentation of findings- the researcher needs to use reports and other information gathering it into one to present the hypothesis. Conclusion- what does the studies say about this topic, this is based on all the information that was gathered together to get the correct conclusion.
The methodology selected provides the researcher the framework to present information in a logical manner. The methodology section answers two fundamental questions: How data was collected or created and, how the data was examined and determined (Research, n.d.)?
INTRODUCTION A research method refers to a way of conducting and executing a research. Researchers frequently use a single or a combination of methods in their studies. The two methods, that is, the Longitudinal study and the Field experiments have different methodologies.
One known research method is the Scientific Method which is a uniform way of creating observations, assembly data, establishing concepts, testing predictions, and understanding outcomes. These observations are made in order to observe and define behaviors. The first step to take in using a scientific method is to develop an issue or question. Next step is to perform a research and observation on the issue or question that was developed. Then a hypothesis needs to be formulated after these steps have been made.
A Methodology (2-3 pages) specifies research design, data collection, measurement, and data analysis methods. Regarding the first three parts, you can convert the information described in the codebook into your words.
Research methods provide guidance on designing a study. Research design and use of theory varies per research method. Each design has specific requirements pertaining to issues such as the role of theory, data collection, and the use of variables (Jackson, 2012). Researchers conduct studies when a problem or gap in the literature pertaining to a topic is identified, or when a weakness in an existing theory is identified. The researcher then formulates a research question. The research study should be designed to answer the research
Research methodology is a way how the research is conducted step by step and in order. There are two methods used for data collection which is the primary data and secondary data. These data can be obtained and used many ways. The data is taken and analyzed in advance to produce a result that we can use for research and future reference. This study will relate to the objective we want to achieve and finding the answer to every objective we seek. In order to successfully achieve the objectives we seek, we must know
Research means process of generating and analyzing information. The system of collecting data for research projects is knows as research methodology. The data may be collected for either theoretical or practical research.
The objective of this chapter is to describe the procedures used in the analysis of the data and present the main findings. It also presents the different tests performed to help choose the appropriate model for the study. The chapter concludes by providing thorough statistical interpretation of the findings.
Studying research method was not a new experience since I have studied about it in my under graduate school. In comparison from the previous one I had, ULMS 515 Applied Research Methods Module has enhanced my understanding about how to conduct a research in an appropriate way to be implemented in the real world setting. I learned to appreciate the nature of research and the research process in academic and practical contexts. This module also enables me to develop my understanding in the differences between primary and secondary data, the awareness to carefully identify research methods and technique related to data collection. This brings me to be able to identify the suitable methods for collecting data and analysing data that will result in the answer of the research question.
Quantitative research methods are utilized to study the natural phenomena. So, it includes survey methods, formal methods, and numerical methods.
According to Asika (2002), research work can be defined as the restructuring of investigation aimed at identifying variables and their relationship to one another. This is used for the purpose of obtaining data to enable the researcher test hypothesis or answer research questions.
