I feel that i relate most to W.Michael Blumenthal. In the first place we both were born in different parts of the world. He was born in Germany while i was born in Monrovia, Liberia, Although we were raised in different countries we both grew up seeing evil acts of human and violent acts among people. As Michael explained in his biographies which states "Blumenthal and his sister were able to come to the US and he worked his way through school", I find this to be very important and it also goes back to my own life story after the war had broken out in Monrovia, we were also stuck there for a while until my father was able to raise enough money to send for my mom, older sister and myself which was after the war. Equally important we both were
Joe Rantz and Elie Wiesel are both people that had many similarities. Joe Rantz was a man that wanted to compete in the olympics but had to have faith in the people he was going to row with. Elie Wiesel was stuck in Auschwitz. He also had to have faith. He had to believe in himself and have to have faith in god. Another similarity Joe and Elie have is that both of them lost their families which is a tragedy that they both must overcome.
After starring at the midget level in his hometown, Marty joined the Saint-Hyacinthe Laser in the Quebec Major League in 1989. In 1990, the New Jersey Devils made him the 20th overall pick in the National Hockey League draft. Brodeur appeared briefly in the NHL in 1992 before emerging as one of its top young players in 1993-94, winning the Calder Trophy as the Rookie of the Year and helping the Devils reach the Eastern Conference Finals in the playoffs. The following season, he anchored the team's run to the Stanley Cup championship, allowing just seven goals in the Devils' four-game sweep of the Detroit Red Wings. Brodeur soon cemented his place among the elite players in the NHL. In 1996, he earned his first of 10 All-Star selections and won his first of five Jennings
Critically acclaimed Dana Schutz is a thoughtful artist. Setting aside any subjective critique of her work, the visceral nature of her pieces challenges the viewer and herself. So, it comes to no surprise that her recent painting, depicting the corpse of civil rights icon Emmett Till, would spark a controversy. However, it is a disturbing aspect of our society when art has become a controlled medium. The case of Dana Schutz is one of many examples.
Dana Schutz’s work has been describe as teetering on the edge of tradition and innovation as a very good painter .
When the story of Dwayne Bobbitt, who had his penis cut off by his estranged wife in 1993 was published, it was viewed as pure comedy to Americans and it was constantly used in comedy shows. The most disturbing part is that the wife admitted to doing this and she was found not guilty due to temporary insanity (Carney, Buttell and Dutton, 111).
Although Samuel Steinberg’s experiences in the Holocaust may seem very similar to Elie Wiesel’s experiences, I contend that their experiences were also very different in the hardships they experienced, different camps, and family members lost. I looked at the testimonies of two different people, Elie Wiesel through the book Night and Samuel Steinberg’s through a video testimony from the USC Shoah Foundation.

Alfred Caro was born in raised in Germany. I, personally, can relate to him a bit as a kid. Just like me he has 3 brothers and 2 sisters. He had a happy childhood with a very close knit family. When he was younger he played a few sports and enjoyed school. His family was not rich, but it was well off. His father owned a business, but unfortunately lost it when the war started. Caro remembered the events and specific details of the camp he was in like it was just a few days ago. He explained details, such as the big fence that surrounded the camp that was made out of old wood. Caro could tell that the Nazi’s were evil by the looks in their eyes. He described the long speech given by a Nazi about how the jews were nothing but stupid and worthless.
This profile is informative, it has provided information on David Grohl, the lead singer of the Foo Fighters. This essay is very effective, it gets its points across. Wilkinson provides a rich verbal portrait of rock musician Dave Grohl by describing his career from beginning to when he formed the Foo Fighters and provides other details about his life. Wilkinson portrays Grohl as an ordinary person trying to balance work and his creative genius. Wilkinson's conclusion, which talks about the Foo Fighters embarking on another world tour and the fortune cookie fortunes on the fridge (pg. 626), sums this essay
I agree with Peter Chalk’s statements that the agricultural sector is vulnerable and the U.S is not prepared for dealing with acts of agro-terror. The United States agricultural system is a very important system for which it provides food for millions of people. However, such an important system, which keeps the citizens feed is not very well protected. With all the hormones used in present times to make the animals grow faster in order to feed all the citizens it weakens there immune system which makes them for susceptible to infections. A terrorist can easily expose a huge livestock farm with a foreign virus or bacterium that would not kill the livestock but infect them, consequently infecting all the people that eat the infected meat.
Daniel Bosque questioned that whether shale oil is able to make money back. I think his concern is valuable. Because shale oil is different from normal oil, shale oil come from rocks and is generally in solid form. Difficult to be explored means this kind of explore will use much harder technologies. As a result it will cost lots of money. Regular oil comes from ground which is easy to be explored, can cause little money. So experts should make should hale oil can rain more than buy oil from foreign countries, because shale oil is harmful to
A soldier in war knows he could die at any moment, but remains on the battlefield to protect that which is dearest to him. It takes a special kind of person to do this. When faced with adversity, there are a select few who can push it aside for the greater good. These are the people worth writing about. In Khaled Hosseini's, The Kite Runner, the main character, Amir, learns the true meaning of loyalty and friendship by risking his own life to save another, thus proving that one does not know the value of friendship until it is gone.
Many Germans could accept the fact that their country’s defeat in WWI whereas they argued that “backstabbing” of the Jews and the weaknesses from the beginning caused the front to collapse. They claimed that the Jews caused the spread of defeatism hence destroying the German army. The Germans argued that the Weimar Republic’s democracy was a government that had been constrain on Germany and not suited for the German way of life. They obeyed the Treaty of Versailles and paid reparations as revenge from the victors of WWI. This frustration caused the growth of right-wing groups in Germany such as the Nazi Party.
Experiences play a vital role on who we are as a person, more importantly the memories that we’ve had as children stick with us for the rest of our lives. They help structure and model us into a person that will eventually do extraordinary things that will affect others around us. In first world countries most experiences as a child are generally the same for everyone because they live in a safe shielded environment that protects them anything bad that could happen but, children growing up in third world countries face horrible experiences that can cost them their lives but they believe is the norm. Through my primary research I have discovered that history and social structures have had a great impact on my personal life than ever imagined having to growing up in a third world country. After developing my secondary research, the information I collected is proof of events that have ultimately lead to factors of my development from an infant to who I am as a person today. Throughout my life there were different historical events occurring at the time in my home country and my future country that unfolded to shape and model my life to make me the person that I am today. I am able to identify specific events that separately correspond to the process of coming to Canada before while residing in my home country, during the immigration process to come here, and after arriving in Canada. In this essay I will be talking about how these historical events and social structures shaped
