On August 28 of 1958, a star was born in the city of Gary, Indiana. Michael Joseph Jackson shocked the world as an unbelievably talented musician and dancer. He was one of the most prominent celebrities of all time, and his legacy lives on into the 21st century. Jackson was recognized for his individuality and unique ideas that he added implemented into his work. He created an entirely new image was created in the music industry, and he is remembered for it. Michael Jackson was known as the “King of Pop” and went down in history as a legend. Michael Jackson was born into an all African-American family. His father, Joseph Jackson was occupied as a guitarist, following his musical dreams (Mckeen). His father then put aside his musical career, and supported his family as a crane operator. Jackson’s father formed a small-group of singers with Michael’s four older brothers, Jackie, Jermaine, Tito, and Marlon. Jackson joined the musical group at age five and rose above expectations. Once all five brothers completed the group, it was known as “The Jackson Five”. Jackson became the lead singer of the group due to his remarkable talent and depth. His father was known for becoming violent with him and his brothers due to trying to discipline them to do better until rehearsal was perfect (Bio).
