A tragic hero is a person who makes a judgement error that leads to his or her own destruction. Michael Jackson fits Aristotle’s definition of a tragic hero. Michael Jackson has shown many reasons why he is known to be a tragic hero. As many other tragic heroes, he followed the same pattern. Michael Jackson was loved and idolized throughout the world, but wasn’t numb to suffering as other human beings would. Although he had a high status, as he was once known as the king of Pop, Michael can be considered a tragic hero. His lack of self-confidence, sexual molestation charges (for which he was acquitted), and the loss of a happy childhood likely led down the dark path to an addiction to painkillers, which caused him to die earlier than expected, …show more content…

One of the consequences includes Michael acting like a child and doing reckless illegal tasks. Most recently, he seemed to have stabilized, somewhat. He was allowing his children to be seen in public, uncovered. He had settled comfortably into his role as a doting father and his legal troubles were for the most part, behind him. He no longer had financial security, because he had to pay off his illegal bills and other debts. Michael; no longer had the original appearance that he was born with and began to look odd. Even with all he went through, Michael Jackson was still worshipped as the God of Dance by millions of fans. Even though his stardom and popularity earned him billions of dollars, during 2005 until his death in 2009 he was at the edge of bankruptcy. When he was charged with child abuse he was approximately three hundred million dollars in debt and four hundred million dollars in liabilities. He was trying to make a major come back and perform a concert, his “This is it Tour”, to capture the love of his audience one last time. Unfortunately, Jackson’s insecurities got the best of him and took over his judgement. He had to sleep in the bed he made for himself and accept the consequences of his earlier actions. However, before he could do that, on June 25, 2009, Michael Jackson was found dead of acute propofol and benzodiazepine intoxication after suffering a cardiac arrest at his home on North Carolwood Drive in the Holmby Hills neighborhood in Los Angeles.
