Michael Vick growing up was always very athletic. He was always the fastest and the best at most of the sports that he played. He went to high school for two years and played College Football at Virginia Tech, where as a freshman he placed third in the Heisman Trophy balloting. He left after his sophomore year to enter the NFL and was drafted first overall by the Falcons in the 2001 draft, the first African-American quarterback ever to be taken first overall. In six seasons with the Falcons, he gained wide popularity for his performance on the field, and led the Falcons to the playoffs twice. During his tenure with Atlanta, Vick was selected to three Pro-Bowls. The Atlanta Falcons made him the first player selected. Vick became the Falcons’ starting quarterback his second season. the first law that he helped pass is H.R. 2492, the Animal Fighting Spectator Prohibition Act, which would make it a federal crime to be a spectator at a dogfight or cockfight with additional felony penalties for bringing a child to such a fight. The breakdown of this law is basically not allowing anyone to run or watch a chicken or dogfight.

The Second law Michael Vick helped pass was the law that doesn’t allow to dog owners to leave their dogs in a in 32 degrees fahrenheit and lower depending on the breed, and a car over 95 degrees fahrenheit. This law is useful for the safety because when a dog is overheating he or she can be legally taken from the vehicle and there life can be saved. This is also important because if a person such as Michael Vick is was running a dogfighting ring he would be arrested if he was caught.
