Attending a Midwestern University Commencement ceremony provides both a sense of history and accomplishment, beginning with bagpipers leading the procession of graduates; continuing with the traditional music, speeches and conferral of degrees; and concluding with the faculty lining the auditorium lobby and applauding the
I have the distinct pleasure of welcoming all of you into the National Honor Society, a group built off of high standards of achievement, not only in the area of academics but also in character and leadership. I congratulate each of you and your parents.
High school Commencement in the United States is a tradition like no other. Every June, high school seniors dress in their Sunday best and head to the tried-and-true ritual. Parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles swarm to secondary institutions with their cameras in hand. With the sea of hats and gowns, the graduating class is unified and united. Over the recent decades, Commencements across the United States have incorporated cords and stoles. These emphasize both communal and individual achievements throughout students’ secondary education and their community. At Chisago Lakes High School (CLHS), these achievements are recognized at Commencement with a variety of cords. Students who participate in the National
After attending Tarrant county college I decide to join the cornerstone honors program. I was accepted into the program and it charge my life. Over the course of a year I was exposed to the idea of being able to formulate my own ideas through intense writing assignments an assigned readings. I came out of the program much more confident which ultimately gave me the courage to run for an officers position for the Beta Delta Omicron chapter at southeast TCC. The introduction to speech honors course helped me develop the crucial public speaking skills I would need to stand before 60 dedicate Phi Theta Kappa members and prove, in 90 seconds, why I deserved the opportunity to help lead the chapter. During my speech I describe my dedication to my
In 2010, Dr. Marc Lamont Hill was the commencement speaker for California State University, Stanislaus. This speech was addressed to the graduating class of 2010, their friends and family who were attending the ceremony, the California State University, Stanislaus faculty and staff, and people who may have not been able to attend the ceremony, but were able to watch it on a DVD recording. This speech was intended to congratulate the graduates and offer them advice as they enter into the “real world” post-graduation. However, the speech also had to address the family and friends of the graduates and the university’s faculty and staff, since they presumably made a difference in the lives of the graduates.
Good evening! My name is Isabella Smith and I am applying to National Honor Society for the upcoming year. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to join this club as it is a wonderful way for me to make a difference in the community. It would really mean a lot if you would take the time to fill out a recommendation for me.
Good morning, seniors and faculty. Today, I have the honor of addressing one of the most unique, talented, and resilient classes ever to attend Newfield High School. I hope that the advice I have to offer you today will enlighten you as well as your successors. Now, since graduation is a congratulatory occasion, before I get started, there are people who must be acknowledged and to whom respect is due.
I am delighted to announce that I am running for the presidential position of Science National Honors Society, which has truly been one of the most active clubs at Clements High School this year! In doing so the club has genuinely lived up to its motto of "Promoting Science, Service, and Leadership". Hearty congratulations to all the current officers for successfully re-establishing the SNHS standards at Clements High School after a year of hardships. From the establishment of Pat Cave to volunteering at Westbury Community Garden, active involvement in SNHS has given me a rigorous introduction to application of scientific concepts to real life problems. At the same time, this club has taught me how to sincerely appreciate nature, specifically
Good morning Principle Boyd, proud parents, faculty, and fellow graduates, to this extraordinary celebration breakfast, in honor of Our Lady of Grace Catholic School Class of 2017. Yes, I am graduating 8th grade, but I still have to make my bed, be nice to my siblings, do my chores, I cannot drive a car, I must continue putting my Iphone into my locker every night, so that I will not be grounded! Nevertheless, I am graduating from Our Lady of Grace Catholic School, and I feel like I found a pot-of-gold at the end of the rainbow.
First of all, it was a pleasure talking and discussing the measures available for the commencement requirements. However, thorough student advisory analogy, on your part has enabled me the opportunity to be a participant of May 14, 1016, graduation ceremony. Moreover, I'm registered for the summer of 2016 (INDS and Math-115).
Barbara Makeda Blake Hannahand is a Rastafarian woman from Jamaica. She came to TCU to visit multiple classes, give the Honors Convocation Address, and to give an introduction to a film featuring herself. She answered many questions in classes to help the students learn more about the Rastafarian religion, her culture, and a few personal stories of how her culture and religion has made a huge impact to her life. Her introduction to the film she was featured in was very short and not very informational, but her part in the film itself was interesting. The speech she gave at the honors convocation was more informative.
National Junior Honor Society is a great opportunity for students to show their leadership and collaborative skills. I would like to serve as secretary in the 2016-2017 school year because I am dedicated to what I do, and I enjoy being involved in school and helping others. I believe I can take on the responsibilities that come with the job and am qualified to serve because I am dependable and curious. My curiosity leads me to ask questions, which will allow me to know as much as possible about the meeting and the meeting procedures. I am also organized and neat, which enables me to make sure everything and everyone is present at the meetings and to also be aware of the calendar and the growth of the committees.

The 2015 Matriculation Convocation was held at 11:00am in the Murphey Fine Arts Center. As students entered the theatre, they were greeted with a musical prelude by Dr. Samuel Springer. As he played a beautiful melody on the organ, professors, and faculty ushered in wearing their decorated and highly esteemed robes. Once everyone was seated, they were invited to stand for the invocation, presented by Reverend Bernard Keels. Dr. Francis Murphey Draper then greeted all in attendance as well as paid special tribute to the President of Morgan State University, Dr. David Wilson.
