Migration is a very old process; it started when people moved from one area to another, because of exhausted natural resources. Nowadays people have many different reasons to immigrate such as economical, political, religious and others. Migration can be of temporary or permanent. Temporary migrations may be annual, seasonal or sometimes even of a shorter period, for example, daily. The number of people who migrate from their native countries is getting higher and higher each year. These people can have positive or negative impacts. For example they can share each other’s culture and background, but sometimes they can damage host country’s cultures and the environment, because the immigrants can have different point of view. But between 2003 and 2013 the total number of non-UK EU-born citizens in employment in the UK rapidly increased-from 762,000 to 1,647,000. However, UK citizens also enjoy to work anywhere in the EU to get a new experience and to improve their own skills. However, the number of UK citizens that are going out of the UK is much smaller that amount of EU people going to the UK.

Let as consider what the advantages and disadvantages of migration are. Firstly, net immigration lead to increase in the labour force; because most of immigrants are of working age, they are students or people that are looking for a job. As a result of it we can see an increase in the output of the economy. Also immigrants impact on Real GDP.
Secondly, migrant workers play a very important role in UK’s workforce. Over the last 10 years the total number of non-UK EU-born people employed in the UK has increased from 762,000 in 2003 to 1,647,000 in 2013. Migrant workers from the EU are not just making an increasing contribution to overall employment in the UK, but also they are increasing the employment rate in the UK. EU citizens that are living in the UK are more likely to be employed (63,3%) than UK-born citizens (56,2). Also, they are more economically active-69,8%, compared to UK-born citizens-63%.
