At 54 years of age Mike Bitter competed with a 24 year old to earn his 3rd degree black belt in Taekwondo. According to Mike when his life is out of balance he turns to the gym and practices the art he loves, Taekwondo. Mike recently became a part owner in Theresa’s Taekwondo in LaVista, NE where he has been a student for many years. He will now be sharing his passion and love with others seeking to find harmony and balance in their own life. He watched some businesses struggle while others flourished and the only variable was the owner’s ability to market his products or services. Mike has the heart of a true marketer and nine years ago when he decided to attend a workshop on social media marketing he quickly knew that social media would be the way marketing would go in the future. He took an online course and joined several networking groups to learn how others were utilizing social media to market their business. He quickly learned that while everyone seemed curious no one was really doing it and the general consciences was they didn’t know how or they didn’t have time. Again, Mike saw this as an opportunity and began studying everything he could about social media and email marketing. Mike earned his first black belt when he was 16 and now, 38 years later he is still learning and improving his skill. Through my life I’ve had many special accomplishments, but the one that meant the most to me was the time when I got my second degree black belt in Tae-Kwon-Do. I currently am a second degree black belt with 8 years of consistent training. My journey through this experience was not at all easy. In fact, I had to go through much dedication, time, and sacrifice. My training involved me going to practice 4 days a week, not including tournaments, weekend practices, and times when I went to practice when I wasn’t required to. All this training prepared me for tests that I had to earn in order to get my next belt; many people have failed, but I’ve never failed a single test. Mikes an Omaha native who graduated from Millard South High School where he met his wife. They have been together for 20 years and have two great children. After high school, he continued on to get an associate’s degree in Computer-Aided Drafting and began a drafting career with a local architect. A year later, he decided to continue his education in the subject of his true passion art, attaining an associate degree in Graphic Art and Design. For as long, anyone could remember Mike had always loved to draw, on anything he could get his hands on. While in his Graphic Arts program, he began to see art in a new way and unlocked many unknown talents he was excited to implement into his drawings. After receiving his associate’s degree in Graphic Art and Design, he was not exactly sure what field of art would best fit his talents. Mike embarked on his tattoo career in 2008; Mike received training and the interest for tattooing at a local Omaha tattoo shop. Following a number of years of working in two regional tattoo shops, as well as owning a studio for a time. Mike began his journey with Nuclear Ink Custom Tattoo in 2013.
Although he had a job, it was not what he was hoping for and wanted to do more and after a year, he moved on. He then took a job at a global security and crisis management firm that required him to commute to Washington, D.C. His wife still in school, he decided after two years with this firm to find a job that capitalized on his skills. He took his time and landed a job with Bank of America. After a few internal moves within the organization, Mike found himself working with an old classmate on a transition team and eventually leading portfolio of five projects, one of them being U.S.
