Analytical essay on Mike Whitney’s article “The American Dream is Dead” The American dream is one of world’s most famous phenomenon´s. A lot of people travel to the land of opportunities because of the American dream. This land is wear the streets are fuel of milk and honey. Where there is work for everybody. People have work hard for many years to build this land. But, some may say that this dream, has become more like a myth. That the land of opportunities has fallen and that the dream has died. This is what Mike Whitney’s article “The American Dream is Dead” is all about. The article is printed in the Counterpunch, 7 February 2014. Mike Whitney talks in the article about how he believes that The American Dream is dead. He uses many negative words on this subject like; “Pessimism, pessimism, and more pessimism, shitty, stagnant wages, frustrated with their droopy incomes, frustrated with their ripoff health care.”1 This is just one example of the many negative words he uses. Mike Whitney uses so many negative words because he believes that this dream is dead. That the land of opportunities has become something more like the place where a 23-year old college graduate is stuck delivering pizzas to try to put a dent in the $65,000 tab he ran up getting his Masters in engineering.2 That is has become a place where the government is taking …show more content…
